IN STEPHANIE’S SEWINGroom, Heather was admiring her reflection in the full length mirror. She still couldn’t believe what Stephanie had produced in a couple of hours. The black glossy outfit was two pieces. The long-sleeved top tied in a knot just below the bust, and the hip-hugging mini skirt sported a thin belt with a rhinestone buckle.

“Tony, you can come in now,” Stephanie called, poking her head out the door.

He had been waiting in the hall, and as he walked in he let out a whistle. “Damn, Heather, you look fantastic.”

“I’m still amazed you did this for me,” Heather said gratefully, giving Stephanie a hug. “How can I ever thank you? It’s perfect.”

“It was fun and I’m thrilled it worked out,” Stephanie declared. “Just let me design something for you when you accept your first Grammy.”

“Heather, I have something for you,” Tony said, presenting her with a small, red box.

“What’s this?”

“It’s to bring you luck and add a touch of glamor.”

Lifting the lid, she discovered a gold snake chain holding a black and gold cleft note, with a diamond set into the round base.

“Tony, it’s perfect and it’s beautiful. Thank you.”

“Let’s see how it looks,” he said, taking it from the box and walking behind her.

Her eyes glistening with happy tears, Heather lifted her hair, and as he placed the chain around her neck, the musical note felt just below the hollow in her neck.

“It’s absolutely gorgeous,” she said with a sigh. “I don’t know what to say. Thank you for everything.”

“You’re welcome, and I know tonight will be the beginning of some great things for you.”

Looking back at her reflection, she shook her head.

“Just a week ago everything felt hopeless...now...”

“Now you have a chance to shine,” Tony said softly. “And you will.”
