“He wants to propose.” My shoulders slumped as the weight of our conversation returned, pushing away any of the happiness I’d been floating on.

“Damn.” Luca shared my enthusiasm. “What did you say?”

“I asked when he was planning on asking her, and he said he wants me to go ring shopping with him this weekend. Then, it could take weeks for the ring to be ready.”

“So we have time?”

I nodded. “A little.”

“We’ll figure her out, babe. We’re close.”

We were at my first class, so I said bye before heading inside. I wish I felt as confident as the guys. They seemed to believe we’d have evidence in time. I trusted them, but part of me didn’t want to be the one to tell Dad. Could we get her to admit it? She was the one who should break his heart, not me.
