“There you are!” Luca pulled me into a hug when I found them in the crowd.

“You’re amazing! I think I would have been on the course for several more hours if I could finish at all,” Noah said and kissed my cheek.

“Thanks, guys.” I almost started crying. The boys came to support me and waited four hours for me to finish.

“Are you heading out with your dad now?” Sky asked.

“No, he has plans with the devil.” I looked down and sniffed. I hated that I was letting this get to me, but I was mad.

“That means that we get to celebrate!” Vince cheered. “Let’s get pizza and cheesecake.”

And just like that, they helped me forget about how mad I was at my dad.

We crowded into a booth at our favorite pizza place, and I let them distract me through the entire meal until I was stuffed and content.

“This is the last time we get to all hang out until finals are over.” Gavin sipped his water.

“Why?” Vince groaned. “You say this every time, and it’s dumb. We either know what we know, or we don’t.”

“Some of us are crammers,” Noah said while grinning at Sky, who laughed in return.

“Study groups only,” Gavin clarified. “I know you two won’t pass any of them unless you do whatever magic it is that works for you guys.”

Noah shrugged with a smug smile. “Our short-term memory is incredible.”

“Long-term, not so much.” Sky laughed.

“Can you tell what answers are correct?” I asked Sky. “Like if you read a multiple-choice question, can you tell which are lies and which is right?”

“No, I wish. That would be amazing.” Sky pouted. “I bet if the teacher read them aloud I could though.”

“You should have thought about that sooner. What a setup that would be.” Luca balled his napkin in his hands and tossed it on his empty plate.

“Had I known that would be my ability, I would have asked for help with tests as a child,” Sky admitted.

“Too bad.” Noah leaned back.

“You should be able to control your visions to see what the right answers are,” Luca said to him.

“If I had that much control, I wouldn’t waste it on stupid school tests. I’d be making money on investments and the stock market,” Noah countered.

“One day,” I said wistfully.

“Yeah, maybe we’ll learn how to use our powers for evil at the new school,” Luca said.

“It’s crazy,” Sky stared down at the table. “We’re really leaving.”

“Yeah, kind of sucks.” Gavin looked around at each of us. “At least we’ll all be together.”

This was probably a lot harder on them than me—well, partially. I wasn’t leaving behind a normal loving family. Would Dad even notice the difference? He’ll probably be relieved not to worry about remembering to come home anymore. He can stay in the city every night. He’ll probably sell the house.

On the other hand, they’d grown up knowing there were more supernatural species out there. That was a shock I’d need a few days, or months, to get over.

Rather than drivingthe full forty-five minutes home, Dad asked me to meet him halfway for dinner. It wasn’t even a sit-down restaurant. By the time we ordered and grabbed a table, he was checking his watch and pulled out his phone three times. I wanted to leave and tell him not to bother, but he made some of an effort for me.

“How were finals today?”
