“You what?”

He pursed his lips until they turned white, then met my gaze with a tiny smile. “This is weird.”

I giggled. “What part?”

“What I’m trying to say. It’s weird. Bordering on creepy and inappropriate.”

I reached up and pushed his hair off his forehead. None of this seemed right. He was thinking weird thoughts and making me laugh, and all I wanted to do was tell him how I felt. So much for waiting for the perfect moment. Maybe there was no such thing. I had to trust myself, and right now, I wanted him to know.

“Sky.” I waited for him to focus on me. “Nothing you can say or do, with a few expectations, can be creepy or inappropriate. Not with me.” I paused and smiled while his brows furrowed. “I love you. All of you and your weirdness and boldness. You’re mine, and I hope that means that there’s nothing you feel like you have to hold back.”

He stared at me like he didn’t understand what I said, then the biggest smile I’d ever seen broke across his lips. “I love you, too, Ave. I love you so much, and thank you for accepting me the way I am.”

He pulled me closer and kissed me deeply. It wasn’t his normal playful, teasing kiss. There were more emotions than I could decipher while my head spun. Sky loved me too. I think I’d known that for a while, but hearing him say it, and not as a joke, made me happier than I knew I could be. We separated and smiled at each other for several seconds.

“Now that we cleared that up,” I finally said, “what’s the creepy thing you’re trying to say?”

He laughed, then pulled himself together. “I want . . .”

I shook his shoulders. “What do you want?”

He closed his eyes. “I want to touch you.”

A shiver ran down my spine to my toes. “Okay.”

His eyes snapped open. “What? Okay?”

I nodded and smiled. “I love you, remember? I trust you. I’m your first naked woman, and you’re mine.” I giggled. “Well, man.”

He cracked a smile. “You’re more than welcome to touch me anywhere, Ave.”

And I did. I trailed my fingers down his rippling muscles that corded over his stomach before making him turn around so I could take in the impressive peaks and valleys of his back. I giggled when my hands tickled his skin before I squeezed his butt.

He burst out laughing and spun back around. “Hey, I’ll get you back for that.” He lowered his hands and squeezed my butt, making me thrust forward against him.

“Sky,” I mumbled.

“Yeah?” His voice was husky.

“You’re the only one I’ve ever seen.”

He nodded. “So you said.”

I licked my lips and mustered the courage to say what I was wondering. “Are they all that . . . big?”

He tightened his fingers into my soft flesh. “No,” he finally answered. “I’m by far the biggest. In fact, you’re going to be so disappointed by every other you should never see anyone else’s.”

I laughed and shoved his shoulder. “You’re a liar.”

He shrugged. “It’s not like I stare at the other guys when we’re getting dressed. We’ve never taken a tape measure out and compared.”

“Fine,” I grumbled. “I guess I’ll have to run an experiment and find out for myself.”

He narrowed his eyes. “Don’t share the results with any of us.”

I scrunched my nose. “Never.”

Now that we’d both said the most awkward things ever, the tension between us disappeared.
