These were good things.

The bonding ceremony was just a formality. We were already bondmates. This was just the next step.

I spun to face the door. All I needed to do was go out there.

If only I had a bouquet. I didn’t like not having anything to do with my hands as I walked toward everyone. I glanced in the mirror.

Down at my sides?

No.

Behind my back?

No, much worse.

Crossed?

Oh no!

Ugh. What was I supposed to do?

Pop!

I glanced over at the chaise, and a beautiful bouquet of white roses was waiting for me.

Niall?

I picked them up and smelled them. They were real, fresh.

Thank you.

I hoped he heard me and pushed open the door. Every single person turned to watch me cross the long room toward Mrs. Chronis. I held onto my flowers like a lifeline and focused on not tripping.

As I got closer, I took in the other faces and smiled at the adults. Their parents.

Masie was beaming and wiped her eye before extending her hand and dipping her eyes to the flowers. Right. I handed them off before taking the final steps to complete the circle with the guys.

They were each dressed in suits that fit them perfectly, making them appear older and far sexier than ever before. Hopefully, one of the parents was taking pictures. I wanted to remember this moment forever.

I stood between Theo and Kaden, and they reached out and took my hands in theirs. I looked at each of them and paused at Niall. He winked and mouthed, “you’re welcome.”

I smiled and relaxed a bit. This was normal. This was me and my friends. Theo, my energetic charmer. Sai, my sweet listener. Niall, my sensitive observer. And Kaden, my mysterious confidant.

Mrs. Chronis began. “Thank you all for being here on such short notice. Given this unique situation, I’m glad you all understood the time sensitivity as well as the discretion necessary for this event. Bonding is revered and sacred, but a bond with this many members and species is something I’ve never seen in all my days.”

In all her days? As in time? Ever?

I squeezed Theo’s hand, and he squeezed back. We would be okay.

“Everyone in this room has already taken an oath of silence to protect the members of this bond,” she added, glancing at me. I returned a small smile. That was good to know.

“So we will begin. Please hold hands.”

Niall, Sai, Theo, and Kaden completed the circle.

“Saige Stewart Williams.”

I sucked in a breath at the use of my birth parents’ name but was glad they were included.
