“Theo Bridges, Sai Saleem, Niall Kelly, and Kaden Pratt, by this oath you and your abilities shall be bonded together from now until the end of time.”
“I agree,” Theo spoke first, then Sai, Niall, Kaden, and finally me.
Unlike the oaths of silence, I felt the power of this promise spread through me. The zap of electricity I felt the first time I touched them multiplied in the best way.
A scene flashed in my mind of the five of us leaning against a balcony, watching the waves crash on the beach in front of us. We’re laughing, and I’m holding Theo’s hand while resting my head on Kaden’s shoulder. We’re happy. We’re in love.
I gasped and met Niall’s gaze. Did he know? Could he see or hear my premonitions?
His lips pulled back into a gentle smile, and he nodded once. Then I squeezed Theo’s hand and looked at him. He was grinning back at me with unrestrained joy. “I can’t wait.”
“Congratulations,” Masie cheered.
Their parents surrounded us, and we dropped our hands.
Meeting them was a blur. Kaden’s parents cried when they saw me and Niall. Sai’s parents were gracious and offered to let us all come to their house during breaks from school if we wanted. Theo’s parents were intimidating. They dressed and acted like my grandparents but were surprisingly warm. His mom asked for us to send a list of everything we needed to settle into the new apartment. Niall’s mom, well . . . aunt, gave me the biggest hug and told me she always wanted a daughter.
Masie fell in love with all the guys and gave me a hug. “You will be all right. You can trust them. Rely on them. They will protect and love you.”
“Thank you.”
“I’m sorry, but time is nearly out. We must return to the academy.” Ms. Chronis waved her hand, and another portal opened.
I waved to the group and headed through the swirling blue with much more confidence, knowing what to expect.
“You look absolutely stunning,” Theo whispered in my ear before taking a step to the side so Sai had room when he appeared.
“You’re gorgeous,” Sai grinned, taking me in.
“Extraordinary,” Kaden added.
“And ours.” Niall’s breath tickled my neck, raising goosebumps along my neck and arms with the promise in those two simple words.
