Theo and Niall shared a wicked grin. Sai instantly perked up and nodded.

“Thank you, sir,” Kaden answered for all of us.

“Then let’s head over. No time like the present,” he said cheerily and led the way out of the office.

I gave Mrs. Hedgings a quick hug as I passed her. “Thank you for today, for getting our families there, and for this.”

She smiled back and ushered me out to catch up with the guys. Instead of leaving through the main entrance, Professor Rosen opened a side door that revealed a set of stairs headed down. After flipping a switch, the tunnel lit up. It was cleaner than I expected and much less creepy. The cement walls were painted white with arrows at every junction, so you could easily navigate to the right building or hall.

“I thought these would be dingy and creepy,” I whispered to Theo.

“They kind of are throughout the summer and off-months because only the vampire students who don’t have amulets use them. But after that big rainstorm we had, the brownies came through and did the annual cleaning.”

Getting to the long tunnel in front of the dorms took nearly the same amount of time as using the stone path outside.

“This way,” Professor Rosen led us to the last turnoff with “Phoenix Hall” painted on the wall.

The stairs took us up to the main floor and connected with the ones leading to the rest of the building, which would allow us to use the stairwell inconspicuously. The less attention we drew to ourselves, the better.

“You’re in room two-thirty. The majority of students on this level are also bonded. The higher floors are for the university-level pupils.”

He stopped in front of our door and pulled a key from his jacket pocket. I expected something similar to my current room with Natasha, plus a small living area and kitchen, if we were lucky.

I was wrong.

“Whoa.” Theo let out a low whistle.

“Not bad.” Kaden nodded as he took it in.

“The previous residents left the floor plan that worked for them. I can make adjustments as needed to make it work for you,” the professor said.

The open living area had a sectional couch large enough to fit all of us at once, laying down. It was situated in front of a massive TV and next to a bright, modern kitchen, complete with a breakfast bar and three stools.

“We need two more,” Sai pointed.

Professor Rosen held up his hands, then slowly pulled them apart as if he was unfolding a large piece of paper. The entire kitchen stretched to accommodate a longer bar, and two more stools appeared to fit all of us comfortably.

“Wow.” This was the first time I’d seen Space magic in action other than when Niall dropped textbooks into his invisible pockets.

“Take a look at the rooms, and see what else needs to be changed,” the professor offered, and the guys took off running in every direction.

“Sai and I want this one!” Theo shouted from the left.

“There’s no way we can fit in here.” Niall eyed Kaden from the doorway of the third bedroom.

I made my way to the middle and opened the last door. It was smaller than my current room, but there was only a single bed. The closet doors matched my old ones. I opened them and confirmed it was just as large—nothing special, but sufficient.

“This won’t work.” Sai rested his head on my shoulder, pressing his chest against my back.

I tried not to gasp at the proximity. He wasn’t normally this forward or comfortable with me.

“Professor Rosen, can we make all of this bigger?” He waved his hand around before stepping back and tugging me with him.

The teacher came over and looked around. “Of course.”

The walls backed out three feet in each direction before the bed stretched into a king. Another door appeared across from the desk, and he pointed. “I added a bathroom for you as well. I figured you would want a space to yourself.”

“Thank you. That’s incredible.”
