“I’ll get a coat,” Sai said.

“One of the good ones. With the fur around the hood so it will keep the snow out of her face,” Kaden added.

Sai nodded and headed after Theo.

“What else does she need?” Kaden asked Niall.

“She is standing right here and doesn’t need charity. I can get my own clothing,” I protested.

Kaden and Niall turned to me.

“You’re our mate.” Niall said, then cringed. “Partner, quintlet, whatever. You’re ours. Our responsibility now. We’ll take care of you.”

“I can take care of myself,” I argued again.

“We know. But we have a primal need to provide for you now, so how about you don’t fight it?” Kaden asked, not sounding nearly as condescending as I expected.

I narrowed my eyes at him. “What about you guys? What if you need something? Can I help?”

“Absolutely. You’ll feel the same pull to take care of us,” he said before looking through the closet. “She can’t wear Converse through the winter. They’ll get soaking wet.”

“She’s a size seven. Maybe get a half size bigger in case she wants to wear thick socks.” Niall went through my shirts, and Kaden nodded before walking out.

“How did you know my shoe size?” I asked when we were alone.

“I looked.” He picked out a sweater and held it up to me. “This fit you last year?”

The blue knit pullover was one of the few warm pieces I packed, and I was pretty sure it was Aiden, who snuck it into my suitcase, since it was his favorite color.

“Yeah.”

He shook his head. “It’s not going to fit.”

I took the sweater from him and tried to smooth it over my front. It was about an inch too short and didn’t look like it would stretch over my chest.

I never would have realized it without trying it on.

“How did you know?”

His lips twitch. “I looked.”

I stepped to his side and stared up at him. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

His eyes skimmed the front of my body, pausing over my chest and hips before dropping to my feet and coming back up. “I’ve been looking for a long time.”

That was so not what I expected.

I rushed over to my desk and pretended to be adjusting things so he couldn’t see the warmth taking over my face and neck.

Niall Kelly was one of the most dangerous people I’d ever met. He had the power to make me blush, swoon, cry, and scream. I prayed he didn’t know how much control he had over me.

“You can’t run from this for much longer, Saige.” He didn’t face me. Didn’t challenge me. Just said those words that had my heart pounding before walking out and closing my door behind him.

I collapsed back on my soft, enormous bed and waited for my body to relax. It took several minutes, but my heart rate finally slowed. I no longer felt like I was going to combust.

There was so much I had to do. I owed my parents a call. They would want to meet the guys, but I wasn’t ready for any of that. Bringing them in would make this real. It would blend my two very separate worlds.

Hannah.
