Great. He was back to being Mr. Grumpy-pants.

He spun toward me. “Me? I’m grumpy? You’re the one who’s an hour late. This is your time to work on your magic and catch up, but you’re wasting it hooking up with the hawk.”

He spit out the words like an insult, and they met their mark perfectly.

I wanted to ignore him. Pretend like everything was fine. Take the verbal beat down just so we could move on and get through whatever frustrating trial he had in mind for me.

But no.

Not anymore.

I refused for this to continue to be our relationship. We needed more from each other. Better. We couldn’t use and abuse each other when we needed to take out our frustration on something.

Both of us deserved more.
