Niall: What’s going on?

Theo: What’s wrong with her?

Niall:Saige? What happened to her?

Kaden: On my way

Theo:I’m at the farm. I’ll be there in a few.

I waited for Niall to confirm he was coming, but a few minutes later, the door to the tunnel burst open. He came running at me, barely out of breath.

“What’s going on?” His low tone didn’t hide his panic.

“Just wait until they’re here.”

“No dammit! Tell me!” His icy eyes flared, and I could sense he was barely containing his rage.

“Niall, just wait.”

He stepped to the side and flipped two of the chairs.

The sudden noise had the people behind the desk on their feet. “Sir, if you can’t control yourself, you’ll need to leave.”

Niall glared at them, and I almost warned them to run.

We didn’t know each other well, but I’d never seen him lose it like that before.

“She had a cold this morning.” I started to explain. He wasn’t in our history class, so I wasn’t sure if he knew about that part. “I took her here after to get some potion.”

Niall crossed his arms. “So where is she?”

I glanced behind him and let out a sigh when Theo and Kaden came running in.

“What happened?” Theo asked.

“The healer gave Saige some potion for her cold, but within a few minutes, she started getting really hot, then complained about being dizzy. I called for help, and when the healers got there, she was seizing.”

“What the hell!” Niall roared. “Why didn’t you call us sooner?”

I ignored him. I wasn’t in the state of mind to worry about anything other than Saige at that moment, and I didn’t need to tell him that. He should know.

“After they got everything under control, the healer told me they think she was cursed.”

Theo glared at each of us, and Kaden clenched his fist.

“How? That’s impossible.” Theo shook his head. “They have to be wrong.”

“It’s not impossible,” Niall practically whispered, not taking his eyes off the doors that led into the patient portion of the clinic. “We’re protected on campus, but we left.”

Theo huffed. “We were with our families, and two professors.”

“So someone we know did this?” Kaden was putting the pieces together as I did.

“It’s the only possible explanation,” I confirmed.

“Someone could have found a way past the spells and barriers,” Theo argued.

Niall shook his head. “They're impenetrable. People have tried for years. There hasn’t been one successful attempt. Not even a council member is able to get around them.”
