“Theo, we got a call and had less than thirty minutes to get there.”

“That’s plenty of time for an excited parent to call or text someone.” Something as simple as Theo is getting bound could have been enough.

“I did not tell anyone anything, before or after. I’m fairly confident your mother didn’t either, but I’ll have to check.” I heard shuffling and could picture him leaving his home office looking for her.

“Indah?” he called.

They shared a few words before Dad was back. “She said she didn’t mention a single detail. Hasn’t told anyone about you or Saige.”

“Okay.” I let out a sigh. “Thanks.”

“Let me know if there’s anything we can do. If Saige needs better care, I can put some calls in.”

“I will. Bye.”

I hung up and rubbed my face.

Niall was done, so I went to his side. “Neither of them said anything, and my dad reminded me that they all took an oath when they got there. So they couldn’t have told anyone after.”

He nodded. “I remembered that.”

I glanced over his shoulder as he put a line through my parents’ names. It was a relief to know they weren’t involved. Not that I ever thought they would intentionally do anything to hurt me, or my mates, but even an accidental slip couldn’t go ignored right now.

Within minutes, the guys confirmed their parents hadn’t told anyone either.

“If no one said anything to anyone, there’s only one other option,” Masie said, turning to Mrs. Hedgings. “Ms. Chronis.”

The older woman immediately started shaking her head. “She would never. You know she’s against the council’s ideals.”

“No, she’s impartial. You’re so used to being around her you forget she’s a daemon. She is time. She is fair and just. Whatever that means to her.”

“Are you saying, if she thought it was fair that the council knew about the ceremony, she would have told?” I asked.

Masie nodded. “Exactly.”

“We have to find her and ask her,” Kaden said.

“No need.” Ms. Chronis stepped into the room like she was floating. “Mrs. Hedgings has already made me aware of the situation. I did not notify the Grand Council or anyone outside of who you have already considered, which means a suspicion I have long held is true. There is a leak within the school.”

Mrs. Hedgings gasped. “What do you mean?”

“Someone from the Grand Council has access to the school, likely through the computer system.”

“But we use an internal program to communicate.”

Ms. Chronis nodded. “Yes, a program that was designed and is regularly updated by members of the council.”

“If you had that suspicion, why didn’t you say anything sooner?” Mrs. Hedgings screeched.

I watched them like a tennis match.

Ms. Chronis tilted her head. “I had no proof.”

Niall scoffed. “Well, now you do, and it’s at the cost of a student.”

“Indeed,” she said softly. “But why?”

I shared a look with Sai. His face mirrored my frustration.
