Sai’s eyes widened. “How much?”

“One and a quarter liters per person,” Niall answered calmly.

Theo patted Sai’s knee. “Don’t worry. I can heal you immediately after.”

Sai stared at each of us. “But isn’t this forbidden?”

“So are curses.” Niall watched his blood flow. “We couldn’t find any other options.”

“We did promise her some hybrid material,” I told Theo.

He dismissed me. “Yeah, no problem. Whatever you want.”

Natasha kept her eyes on the scale. “Some venom and blood would be nice.”

Her request didn’t faze him.

“Sure.”

At least three of the four of us were handling this well.

Sai didn’t speak again, not as Niall finished and I switched with him for my turn. Not as Theo healed the wound and did something to hasten the reproduction of red blood cells. Not even as Natasha started chanting under her breath.

By the time it was Theo’s turn to donate, which was challenging since his body kept healing itself instead of draining blood, we were discussing the intention of the spell.

“To heal her mind and body?” I offered.

“Too vague.” Natasha shook her head. “This is meant to exchange lives. We have to be more specific.”

“So, more of a restoration?” Niall suggested. “Putting things back to the natural order?”

“Still too vague. That could mean several things.”

“Why not just to wake her up?” Sai asked.

“Because her body could wake up without her brain intact,” Natasha replied.

“Shit. We don’t want that.” He ducked his head.

Spells and potions weren’t his thing. Shifters barely learned anything about them.

“Maybe it’s best not to verbalize it. I’ll just use my emotions,” she said while mixing.

I glared at Niall, but he didn’t protest. I wasn’t sure I trusted her, but he seemed to.

“How do we get this to her?” Sai asked later while he was letting his blood drain.

“We don’t,” Natasha replied. “I will.”

“How?” I asked.

“A portal,” she still didn’t look up.

“Natasha, you’d have to leave campus to create it. We can’t ask you to do that. It isn’t safe,” Niall protested.

“I’ve already thought it through. You guys are probably being monitored. I can slip in and out more easily.”

“But what about the trolls?” Theo asked. “What if they catch you?”
