Jo did little to contain her surprise. “Oh.”

“That’s rare. Isn’t it?” Lee asked the room.

I chewed my bottom lip. Should I mention the psychic thing now or wait until they wrap their heads around what we’ve already told them?

“Yes,” the Alpha answered, eyeing me. “It is, but we know little about hybrids. It could be more common for them.”

“Interesting.” Lee looked at me as if he couldn’t wait to study me.

Yeah, I would keep the prophetic dreams to myself.

Maybe don’t mention the dream walking,I told Kaden.

Definitely not.

Our eyes met in sideways glances. His jaw clenched.

“And the shifters?” Jo looked between Sai and Kaden.

“I’m a tiger, and he’s a hawk,” Sai answered for them.

Dennis, Carol, and Lee shifted in their seats, but Jo remained unphased.

Is that a bad sign?

It’s not a good one.Theo leaned forward slightly.

“A tiger shifter? I don’t think I’ve ever met one.” Dennis studied Sai before turning to the Alpha. “We’ll have to make special accommodations.”

The Alpha waved him off.

“These are details that can wait,” Carol scolded. “The most important thing is that you are all safe and healthy. Do any of you require healing?”

I appreciated her changing the topic along with the first genuine inquiry about our wellbeing. “We’re fine, thank you.”

“I’m glad to hear that. Extractions aren’t always peaceful.”

Things with the Councilmember could have been so much worse. If the Alpha hadn’t arrived with so much backup, I doubt we could have left without a fight. I looked at my guys, more grateful than ever that we were all together and unharmed.

“Adjusting to life on the compound might take a few days, but soon enough, you’ll feel like pack members.” Dennis leaned back and rested his hands over his round belly. “It’s a system that requires everyone to do their part, and in exchange, you’ll have all you need.”

I didn’t completely understand what he meant, but at this point, I just wanted to go somewhere we could be alone and have a moment to breathe. “Of course.”

“Come now,” Carol pushed away from the table and stood. “Nancy will show you to your rooms.”

Rooms?Theo asked before I pulled away, breaking the connection.

Nancy was standing next to the door with her table in her arms. “Right this way.”

“Are we going to be staying here?” I asked.

The committee was talking amongst themselves, but the Alpha heard and stood. “Yes, you will stay in my family’s quarters. I’ve had several rooms prepared.”

Two things set me off. His family quarters? Like where the rest of his family lives? My family? I wasn’t ready to meet them yet.

Then there was the other thing. Several, as in separate? We were used to sharing the apartment with our rooms all attached through the living room. I didn’t want to be far from them. Not right now. Not in a new place where I didn’t feel comfortable.

“We can share,” I offered, praying he would take the hint.
