“It’s no problem.” He turned and rejoined the conversation, dismissing me.

“Come.” Nancy led us out of the room, but I wasn’t ready to give up.

“We’re actually used to sharing.” We’d only slept in the same room a handful of times, but she didn’t need to know that.

“Yeah, we would prefer to be together.” Kaden caught up to Nancy, trying to get her to stop.

She looked at each of us. “This can be temporary. Typically, bonded mates have their own homes, but we don’t have an available one at the moment. Our construction team is working on a few, but it will be a while before they’re ready. In the meantime, the only place with room for all five of you is the Alpha’s home.”

“But do we have to stay in the family area? Can’t we take one of the guest rooms?” Sai asked.

So it wasn’t just me who was uncomfortable beingthatclose to the Alpha?

Nancy held out her tablet and tapped on the screen. She glanced up at me, said nothing, then continued tapping.

I shared a look with Sai before returning my attention to her.

She pursed her lips, then tilted her head and narrowed her eyes. A moment later, she straightened and nodded. “Follow me.”

She headed down the hall so fast I nearly jogged to keep up.

The guys had fewer issues, but Kaden took my hand to make sure I didn’t get left behind. She hurried up the stairs to the second floor, then turned suddenly and led us to the last door on the right side.

“This will have to do for now. It’s the furthest from anyone else on this floor or the one above. You’ll have the most privacy, but shifter hearing . . .”

She trailed off, and I squeezed Kaden’s hand. What is she talking about?

He was too busy laughing to respond.

“Thank you, Nancy. We appreciate it.” Theo shot her one of his most charming smiles, and she took that as her cue.

“If you need anything else, my office is on the main floor.”

She rushed off, and we followed Theo in. The large sitting area had a sofa, loveseat, and three armchairs on one side that looked out through double doors onto a balcony. The other side of the room was taken up with a large bed. A dozen throw pillows in various shades of blue matched its navy comforter. One door broke up the wall closest to me, and I hoped it was an attached bathroom.

“That was strange, right?” I asked, as Sai closed the door behind us.

“She was warning us that everyone can still hear us,” Kaden explained, but it did nothing to clarify.

“So we need to be quiet?”

Theo shrugged. “I mean, I don’t mind them knowing.”

Sai smirked.

“What are they talking about?” I asked Niall, hoping he would give me a direct answer.

“Sex,” he replied without batting an eye.

“Oh.”

Then it clicked.

“Oh!” I scrunched my nose. “Gross. I don’t want to hear any of my family members doing that, even if I don’t know them yet.”

Kaden walked away, shoulders shaking.

“No, Saige.” Niall shook his head. “She was warning that the others might hearus.”
