“No. No one's talking about it anymore.”

“That's good.” He went back to his reading.

I stood in front of him. “How are you at the hacking things?”

He closed his book, keeping his thumb on his page. “I’m not sure what that means.”

“Like, I know you're good with computers, but can you hack stuff?”

He narrowed his eyes. “You have to be more specific.”

I dropped onto the couch next to him. “Fine. I want to know if you can figure out where our families are.”

“I already put scrapers on my computer with notifications for anytime our family members’ names pop up, and they haven't found anything.”

I shouldn’t have been surprised that he was already ahead of me on this.

“What about a locator spell?”

“I’ve tried it, but again, no luck.”

I blew out a sigh of frustration.

“That's a good thing,” he reminded me. “If I can't find them, that means that the Council can’t either.”

That was a good point. “I just wish we knew something—anything—about what was happening outside.”

“Me too. I'm doing my best to figure it out, but they're doing a very good job of covering their tracks. That’s more important than us being able to locate them.”

“Yeah, you're right.”

“We just have to trust that when the time comes, we'll be able to find them.”

“And what time is that?”

“I'm not really sure,” he answered honestly. “I don't know if the entire Council will have to be overthrown, or just a few people. I don't know if it will take an entire revolution to change the mind of the majority of the supernaturals, or if they'd be more supportive than I give them credit for.”

I hoped the percentage of people who supported us here was representative of the greater population, but I couldn't be sure that wasn’t foolish. Plus, sixty percent might be a majority, but it left a hell of a lot of people against us.

“I hate not knowing,” he admitted.

“Yeah, me too.” I glanced over my shoulder toward the hallway. “Are Theo and Sai with her?”

He opened his book and shook his head.

“So you're telling me she's alone in there right now?”

He nodded. I punched him in the arm. “Ow! What the hell!”

“How did you let that happen?”

He rubbed at the sore spot and glared at me. “What's that supposed to mean?”

“Why aren’t you in there with her right now?”

“Because it's my patrol night?” he reminded me, as if I was stupid. It was also mine. “Sometimes, she needs some alone time.”

“Did she ask Sai and Theo to give her space?”
