There was a soft knock on the door, so Luke opened it. Jack stood there yawning.

“You doing okay?” he asked Luke when he backed away to let him into the room.

“Sure.”

“Joe texted me to say you were having a nice visit with Quinn, so I guess that helped you work through some of your tension.”

“We talked,” Luke gritted out.

“Did I say otherwise?” Jack’s face was all innocence.

“Shithead,” Luke muttered.

Jack grabbed him in a hug.

“Always here for you, bro.”

Luke felt more of the anger inside him ease as his brother hugged him. These were his people. Two of the many who had his back. Joe’s arms came around them both, and they stood there in silence being what they’d always been. A unit.

He thought about Quinn then. Did she have more than her brother and her friend Tyler at her back? He had a bad feeling the answer to that was no.
