The fireplace is lit, and the table is covered with empty bottles, “Never have I ever.”Nicki yells, and I roll my eyes.“Okay, okay!”
Drunk Dani laughs.It’s good to see her having fun and not worrying about DJ.
“What’s that?”Xander asks.
I explain, “Never have I ever - game.”I removed a few bottles from the table and replaced them with full ones.
“Okay, so like, I would say: Never have I ever passed out at a bar.Now, if you have done it, you have to drink.If you haven’t done it, you don’t.”He nods, understanding the rules.
Dani starts, “Never have I ever woken up in a stranger’s bed.”I leave my drink in hand.Nicki snarls and drinks and so does Diesel.I can’t help the laugh that escapes.These two are made for each other.
“Never have I ever...Oh, fuck, this game sucks.”Nicki says, slurring her words.“Yeah, because there isn’t much you haven’t done.”Diesel says, laughing.
“Okay, okay,” I interrupt.“Never have I ever had sex in a kitchen.”I blurt out and look around the circle witnessing Jacob, Dani, Nicki, and Diesel drink.
Xander doesn’t.
Nicki leans forward, “Never have I ever had sex in a car.”
“Okay, Nicki, that's a lie,” Diesel says when he lifts his drink, we all follow except for Xander.
Huh.
“Never have I ever had sex in a closet,” Dani says.Nicki drinks and I ask, “How did this become an all-about sex game?”We continue around the room, and everyone's feeling pretty good.But I notice Xander doesn’t drink on any of the sex statements.
Then I think he has to drink on this, “Never have I ever had sex in a bed.”
All eyes go to Xander as he runs his hand through his hair, his face flush, but he leaves his drink down.
“What the hell, Xander?Have you never had sex?”Nicki blurts out, and I’m surprised at her coming across so vile.It’s none of our business, yet I can’t stop looking to him for the answer.It’s there written in his eyes...he hasn’t.
He sighs and leans back on the couch, crossing his legs, “No.”
