The room goes silent, nobody knowing what to say.Leave it to Nicki to break the silence.
“Well, Keni, you better rectify that situation,” she says, and I’m all for it, but, “Seriously, Nicki?”I glare toward her, feeling the embarrassment coming from Xander.
Being the mature one, Dani sees how uncomfortable we are all becoming and changes the subject, taking the attention off of Xander and me.
“Let’s play cards.”She pushes up from the floor where she is sitting between Jacob’s legs and opens the drawer.She grabs a deck of cards and tells us to come into the dining room to sit at the table.
“I appreciate you letting us crash, but I think I will make a cup of coffee,” I tell Dani.She nods, understanding I won’t be staying.I can’t expect Xander to spend the night here after Nicki outing him and making him uncomfortable.
We play a couple of rounds of poker while I have my coffee, “I think I’m going to get ready to go.It’s late, Xander.Do you want a ride home?”I offer lifting myself from the table and bring my mug to the kitchen.
“I don’t know.Are you going to take advantage of me?”He follows.Not that it hasn’t crossed my mind, I look over my shoulder toward him.
“Get him!”Nicki slurs while climbing on top of Diesel's lap.
“I love you all, but I’m leaving.”I grab my bag and get my keys making my way around the table, saying goodnight, then we walk to the door.
“Text me when you get in,” Dani says.Xander waves goodnight and helps me with my jacket.
We don’t exchange any words for the fifteen-minute drive home.Once I park in front of my apartment, I have to ask, “Are you really a virgin?”
I don’t dare look at him, “you don’t have to answer that.It’s none of my business that was rude.Sorry.”I pull the lever to open the door and get out.
I reach the sidewalk when he climbs from the car, “I am,” he says and walks towards his door.
Well, holy fuck!
This explains so much.All the flirting, yet we’ve only kissed.All the attraction, then a distraction.This just became so much more complicated.
