“The phone is secured. We can talk.”

“Hey, Reaper! How’s everything going in California?” I asked, looking at Massacre.

“Bloody. Is she safe?”

“Define safe.”

I grimaced when Reaper growled. “Is Layla safe?”

“Oh, she’s fine. In fact, she’s smiling at me right now.”

“And Massacre?”

“Um, he’s being Massacre.”

“Put him on the phone.”

Handing my phone to Massacre, I said nothing when I heard, “Yeah… No… But he wants me too…But I don’t want to…Yes…Yes…Fine…”

I tried unsuccessfully to hide my grin when Massacre threw my phone back at me and went to sit in one of the chairs, sulking. Putting it back to my ear, I said, “It’s me again.”

“I don’t want to know what he’s bitching about, but he will do what he needs to from now on. Look, I may need you guys to stay gone longer than I anticipated. Just hold up wherever you are and keep Layla safe. Do what you must to ensure that happens. I will call when you can come home.”

“Understood.”

Hanging up the phone, I got up from the chair Sabastian used to give us hair cuts and shaves. Looking at my brother, I pointed to the chair and grinned. “Your turn. The Prez ordered it.”

“I fucking hate this.”
