Letting me go, I sat back up and grinned. “A lot of changes happened since we were last together, daddy.”

“Stop calling me that!” Diablo yelled, slapping me again.

“Diablo, Reaper wouldn’t just claim her. Something has happened. They know something we don’t.”

“They know she is my daughter.”

“No. There’s more. He wouldn’t care about that.”

Diablo looked at me.

I smirked.

His eyes narrowed.

I grinned.

Diablo leaned close and asked, “Tell me what I need to know, or I will rip you apart limb from limb.”

“Never give a mouse a cookie.”

Diablo blanched and said, “What?”

“Because he will ask for a glass of milk.”

“What the hell is she talking about?” the stranger asked. Taking a deep breath, I looked up at both of them and said, “It’s a children's story. If you give a mouse a cookie, he’s going to ask for a glass of milk. I can go on if you’d like, but I think it's self-explanatory.”

“Fuck,” the stranger shouted.

“Calm down, Toxic. I will get her to talk.”

Toxic?

He was the fucker who got Kitty killed.

He was a dead man walking.

“Boss, he’s here. Want me to show him in?” another man said, walking into the room. Diablo grinned, stood up, and nodded. The new man quickly turned and left.

“I have a surprise for you, daughter. Your husband has arrived, and I can’t wait to reunite you both. He has missed you dearly.”

I just sat there, stock still.

There was no way he had Giovanni.

I refused to believe it.

This had to be a trick.

Gio couldn’t have let himself be caught by this evil fucker, and I wouldn’t be able to bear it if he did. The only thing giving me strength was knowing he was safe.

However, when the door opened, and I saw who entered, I knew my life was about to take a nasty turn.

My blood ran cold.

Fear pumped viciously in my veins.

If I thought Diablo was pure evil, then Satan himself just walked in, and when he looked at me, I did the only thing I could do.
