“Perfect,” Miles says.
Sarah and I do as she instructs. I can’t wait to see how this plays out. Crouched behind the garage, we can hear everything.
“Hey, Rae Rae. Did anyone see you—”
I hear the splash of water hit him in the chest, and Sarah and I stand up and walk around the garage.
“What? I thought you thought it was A. Where is he?”
“Right here,” I say as Miles and Mackie appear behind Joel on the driveway. Before anyone can say anything, Rae squirts Miles and Mackie. Then, just as I was expecting, she turns and squirts Sarah, then with a devious grin, me.
Pleased, she lowers her squirt gun and says, “Game.”
Joel stares on in confusion, but I play along and say, “But how? You showed me your paper.”
“See, that’s the thing about being the one to write out the letters. You can give everyone a ‘p’ and keep an ‘s’ for yourself.”
That smartass look on her face makes me horny as hell for her. God, I love this side of her.
“Oh my god!” Joel says. “That’s brilliant. Also, I hate you.”
“You know that’s cheating. Doesn’t count as a win,” Miles says.
“It will not go down in the official record book, but it is a win for tonight. And none of you can deny it was fun. It was great how easy it was to get you all believing it was Joel.”
Sarah is staring at her, shocked. “Damn baby, that was twisted.”
“And it was the most exciting this game has been in a while,” Mackie says.
I stare at Rae, certain there’s fire in my gaze. Pure desire. Her eyes meet mine and I see the same heat. I don’t know how much longer I can ignore it.
The heat fades slightly as she looks at everyone else. “I wanted to have a fun night. I know it was cheating, but it added some complexity to everything. And made me realize we need to be checking the pieces of paper beforehand.”
“Clearly,” Joel says. “Well, it was a damn fun game. And now I think it’s time for the hot tub.”
“Hell yes!” Mackie agrees.
They start across the backyard as Rae leans against the shed with a haughty smile on her perfect peach lips. When they’re far enough out of view, I stride over to where she’s leaning, moving in close so our chests are touching.
Maybe I shouldn’t do it, but we’ve been flirting all night. And seeing her take everyone on a ride was hot as hell.
I drop my lips next to her ear and whisper, “I knew it was you.”
Her eyes go wide, but she smiles. “How?”
“I knew from the second you first squirted me. You had thathaha I’m gonna winlook in your eyes. It took me a while to figure out how you did it, but once I realized you wrote out the papers, I figured it out.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Because you were right. Itwasfun. And watching you work everybody like that was pretty… sexy.”
“Aaron…” My name is a soft moan off her lips, and it fires me up. I glance down at her lips, then meet her eyes. She bites her lip, eyes dancing, then gives me a nod.
I crush my lips against hers.Fuck.This feels so damn good. But I am genuinely shocked when her lips part and her tongue darts out, running over my bottom lip.
My heart is slamming into my chest as I move closer to her, running a hand through her hair. She nips at my bottom lip, and I finally open my mouth, allowing her access.
Her tongue immediately twists with mine, sending shock waves through my body, right to my heart. No one else can do this to me but her. I get wild. Unhinged.
