“I don’t. Grandpa wouldn’t want you to completely cut yourself off.”

“I need to focus on the business. Look at what happened with Kevin,” I hissed. My ex-boyfriend had been a long-term bad decision.

“Kevin was a dick who was threatened by your success.”

“True, but that doesn't lessen the point.”

“Brady’s a good guy. You should see what happens.” Ashlyn waved at Liam and Brady, and immediately Brady strode towards the pair of us.

It was Liam who spoke first though. “All good?”

“All good.” Ashlyn smiled up at him like the sun itself shone out of Liam’s…face. “Cici could probably use a drive home though, especially since Grandma and Mom are going the opposite direction to the hotel.”

“I can take you.”

I glared at Ashlyn, who sent me a shining smile. Even Liam seemed to be in on the plan and smirked back at my desperate look. “You don’t need to do that.”

“I’d like to,” Brady said smoothly, his hand extended to me.

I bit my lip but took it. There were hugs and goodbyes, and before I knew it, I was walking to the valet, Brady Martinez on my arm. Or was I on his? Regardless, I suddenly found myself standing beside the man who had been driving me up a wall for the past few weeks.

But now, now my entire body pulsed gently, my entire focus drawn to the strong hands that held me against him.

“You know I’m fine, right?”

Brady looked down at me. After a moment, he shrugged. “I know. But I’d be more than happy to get you home regardless.”

“Sure you would,” I teased softly.

Brady smiled, but his eyes grew dark. As if my skin could sense his attention, it flushed, and I could feel the heat sweep across my chest. It drew me into him. I slipped my hand into his elbow, letting my breasts brush against his side.

Brady’s fingers tightened on my arm. “Do you need anything before we go home?”

“How much time do you have?” I blinked up at him, biting my tongue as I flirted shamelessly. His chuckle assured me he knew of the tease, but at the same time the tension between us suddenly felt thicker than ever.

He tilted my head, a smirk on the tempting curve of his lips. ““Oh yeah. What did you have in mind?”

“Let’s grab those keys, Brady. Big, important places to be.”

Chapter 3

Brady

“Yeah thanks, I need two number threes, one no mustard,” I said, the digital screen and speaker blinking pleasantly in response.

“And a shake,” Cici whispered from the passenger side.

I grinned, leaning back out the window of my sedan. “And a shake. Chocolate?” I glanced at Cici, who nods enthusiastically.

“Pull forward to the first window,” the computer crackles back at me.

I let off the brake, and my car rolled forward, the person behind me eagerly scooting forward to put in their order. Who knew that this many people ate greasy fast food on a Saturday night. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d done this. Even in my younger days when I went out far more than now. Now a wild Saturday night mostly consisted of me only binging three episodes of an old favorite versus two.

I glanced over at Cici. But this felt strangely right. I wanted to reach across to brush my fingers lightly over her hand. The long muscles of her legs, clearly visible beneath that dress, tightened. I wasn’t the only one affected by this nearly suffocating need that weaved us together.

I could not keep my hands off this woman. From the first moment she’d waltzed into the conference room at Leden, I’d been fascinated by her. She was bold, she was loud, and she knew exactly what she wanted. Her laugh was intoxicating, and every part of her body drew me in closer.
