I’d botched our first meeting. I’d been stressed, texting, emailing, all while she’d been trying to set up a relationship, albeit a professional one. That had led to a multitude of grumpy, tense meetings between us during Leden’s marketing campaign planning.

But thankfully, whatever grudge she’d held professionally, personally she’d left that all behind. I’d been pretty proud of my line today. I was in marketing, but I’d been trying to think of a way to hit reset between us for weeks.

I’d considered tonight a massive success. First, she’d flirted with me. Secondly, she’d danced with me. And now I was driving her back across town towards her place.

I didn’t expect things to go any further, but I wouldn’t deny the fact that my entire body was aching for another chance to touch her. Cecelia Grove was like honey to me, drawing me in, teasing me with a level of sweetness I could barely comprehend.

I wanted more.

God help me.

“Your order sir.”

“Thank you,” I said automatically, taking the brown paper sack and handing it sideways to Cici, who crooned excitedly over its contents. We pulled forward, stopping briefly in the parking lot.

“My trainer is going to kill me over this,” I grumbled.

Cici, already holding a tray of fries, giggled. “Oh no, you poor, poor boy.”

I snatched the bag from her, digging out my burger. “Have you no pity?”

“Absolutely none,” Cici chirped, her fingers digging at the foil around her burger.

I slowly pulled back out into the road, pointing my sedan back into the sluggish Friday night traffic. “What’s your thing with mustard?”

Cici made a face, the streetlight illuminating her lovely features as I stopped at a red light. “It’s horrible, end of story.”

“Interesting. I never thought of you as such a bitter individual. Especially over a condiment.”

“I’m only upset that mustard gets all the hype and automatic additions that another high-quality sauce, say ranch, would never get. It just seems unfair.”

“You want ranch on your burger?”

“More than mustard.”

“Get out. Get out right now,” I said, pretending to pull over. Her laughter filled the interior and made my chest tight with joy. I decided instantly I would do anything to make her laugh again.

“You wouldn’t dare. I would make your life miserable on Monday.”

“Oh yeah? More than usual?” I sent her a smirk.

Cici was already laughing. “Don’t push me. I would assign Peter to you. He would dry humor you to death.”

“Oh no, the inhumanity,” I said equally dryly. Looking over at her, I caught her sipping delicately on the milkshake’s straw. She took a long drink, her eyes rolling back as she let out a ragged moan. “That is so good.” Using one finger, she caught a stray drop of milkshake and slipped it back into her mouth. As she slowly withdrew the digit, her eyes fluttered up to meet mine.

“Cecelia,” I growled, my cock leaping to attention once again.

“What is it?”

“You’re enjoying this far too much.”

Cici chuckled, not denying any of it. Crumpling the bag on her lap, she twisted to face me. “Can we go somewhere to eat this? I’m making a huge mess of your car.”

“Yeah absolutely. My place is just up the hill.”

Cici gave me a doubtful look. “Did you do that on purpose?”

“Honestly no, I did not plan on taking a woman home but only after gorging her on burgers and deep fried potatoes.”
