“I don’t want anything else.”

“I mean, you don’t have any hobbies?”

I chortle. “I drink. That’s enough of a hobby.”

“No sports? Art? Fucking…” She snorts and shakes her head. “I mean, I’m sure you’ve done plenty offucking.”

“Yep.”

Her eyelids flutter, her expression taken aback. It’s weird to see it, but why would I lie to her?

She licks her lips and asks in a small voice, “Do you do that now?”

“Did you come so hard that you lost your memory?”

“No, I mean…”

She trails off, but I catch her meaning easily, spotting the self-conscious look in her eyes, the same one I saw when I approached her at Blaczak’s.

She has no idea what a fucking bombshell she is, does she?

I sit up and cup her face. “There’s only you, Liya.”

Her features unwind a little more and she relaxes in my arms, practically slumping into me like it’s the only thing she ever wanted to hear.

That battle she talked about earlier must have been much more than just Kiril and Cardona.

It was her, too.

I want you to treat me like your equal.

She’s shimmering again like the north star. Afterglow looks so good on her, enhancing her beauty by a thousand. She cleans up nice, but I prefer her this way—hair tossed, eyelids drooping, all smiles.

I draw her head back to my chest, enjoying her closeness. “Tell me more about your plans.”

“Well, I want to spend some time working in a clinic...”

As she talks, I realize I could listen to her forever. About anything. Abouteverything.

Fear creeps into my chest as I embrace her.

Fuck, am I falling in love?

***

Another successful night with Liya should have put me in a good mood. We’ve fucked four times in the last twenty-four hours. She’s bound to get pregnant eventually.

But I can’t seem to wrap my head around one thing.

How the hell did she burrow into me?

Karina pokes me. “Pasha, you haven’t touched your chicken.”

I stare at my plate. We ordered lunch twenty minutes ago, and it arrived almost instantly. I don’t think the chicken is hot anymore. Might be tepid at best.

“Not that hungry,” I lie while casually leaning in my chair. I tilt my head toward the sun, trying to hide my expression behind my sunglasses and my reaction to the piercing light. “I’ve been working a lot.”

She studies me curiously. “Working hard for that heir, I assume.”
