"What the fuck are you doing here?" he grabs me by the arm and drags me into the room. Neil sits on the edge of his desk, foreboding written on his face. I manage to school my own expression, adopting the best bimbo I can.

A fresh bout of guilt at the thought of what I'm about to do strikes me, but if Kill knows anything about me, it's that I will do anything, anything, to get my vengeance. And honestly, self-preservation is a pretty big factor in that.

"Sorry to interrupt," I start, smiling sheepishly. "I was just coming to see you… sir."

I lick my lips and look at Neil. He doesn't react, so I continue, keeping my attention on him rather than the others around us. My skin crawls with the eyes watching me.

"It's just so… sad down there." I take a tentative step toward him and reach a hand out. "I was thinking you could maybe help me take my mind off...."

Before I can finish my sentence, Neil grabs my arm and drags me down to his feet. I let out a small cry without meaning to, my wrist burning. His jaw is clenched, eyes filled with blackness as he stares down at me.

“Take your mind off it? Off what? The dumb bitch who OD’din my club!” Spit flies on to my face and I swallow deeply. Real fear strikes me. I don't bother trying to hide it, reasoning any girl would be afraid in this position.

"Neil, that hurts," I manage to whine, and he only squeezes harder. I let out a whimper and behind me, one of the others chuckles. It takes everything in me not to break free of the hold and break his nose.

Neil leans forward and into my face and I have to resist the urge to pull back. His eyes gaze into mine and it feels like he's pulling my secrets from them. I feel my cheeks pale.

After a moment, he tosses my arm down and steps away.

"Maynard, get her the fuck out of here," he tells the giant.

My eyes widen as the beast of a man crosses the room in a single step and reaches down to pull me up. His hand is a vice around my forearm. He leads me out of the office and to the top of the stairs. One last look of warning is all I get before he releases me and turns.

Rubbing my arm, I grab my bag and rush out.

As I get into my car, I look down at my phone to see Killian has messaged me and I realize I never finished sending my earlier message.

Killian:Hope tonight wasn’t too bad.

I stare at the words for several minutes. Despite my desire for orgasms, I don't think I can face him right now after the night I'd had. I type out a quick message.

Echo:I'm bagged. I'll give you a call in the morning. xx

Clicking my phone off, I start the car and head home, ready for my bed.

I keep the window down as I drive through the night, the cool night breeze refreshing and keeping me awake. Not that I could sleep right now. My mind races with more thoughts than I can keep straight, and I absently wonder if I have a joint or something at home to mellow me out. My vibrator would also do the trick.

By the time I pull up to my apartment I expect to see a reply from Killian, but there's nothing. Assuming he is already asleep, I make my way upstairs. The second I open my apartment door, my senses are assaulted with beautiful smells. My jaw drops as I look around.

I walk in slowly, dropping my keys on the side table.

"Hello? Kill?"

No answer.

Locking the door behind me and making a mental note to find out how the hell he got in, I walk through the apartment. I've gotten my share of gifts before, hell my job used to basically be manipulating men into buying me things, but no one has ever done anything like this for me.

Purple and white flowers of all kinds are everywhere, scattered throughout the apartment. I close my eyes and inhale deeply. When I make my way over to the table, I find a note, the jagged scrawl making me smile.

I figured it would be a hard day, so I wanted you to come home to something beautiful. There’s some food in the fridge you can heat up. Vodka isn’t a meal.

Xx

Killian

PS. It's not your fault

My eyes prickle with tears at his words and I curse myself for crying for the third time in as many days but don't move to stop their flow.
