“Sunday, huh? I had my Sunday shift canceled two days ago,” he says with a raised brow. I sit forward in my chair.

“Are they into drug running or something?” I ask, my voice low. “What else could the delayed shipment thing be?”

He shakes his head. “I don’t know. Could be anything. Drugs is a decent bet, though. I’ve never been able to really find any proof of what they’re doing, just rumors mostly. They’re good at hiding their tracks. Every so often they close down for a day, it’s always random. The club seems like a stupidly obvious place to do anything illegal, but then again, I suppose if you’ve got the cops on your side, it hardly matters.”

He stops and I can practically see the light bulb above his head. His eyes narrow with thought and the turning wheels are obvious.

“What is it?”

“Well,” he begins slowly. “They’ll all be there. In one place.”

“And?”

“And four in one is a pretty good deal, if you ask me.”

My eyes widen with understanding, and I lean forward.

“How would we do it?”

He shrugs.

“I haven’t gotten that far, it just seems like there’s an opportunity there.”

“You’re not wrong. So, what, we just set the place on fire with them inside?” I ask bluntly, wanting to make sure I’m picking up what he’s laying down. Again, he shrugs with a nod.

“I have a friend, acquaintance really, who may be able to help.”

I raise a brow at that. “And you trust them?”

“Well, no, but I don’t trust most people,” he says with a wink, “But I know who to trust with the right things.”

I chuckle at the accuracy of that as he continues.

“The way I see it, fire takes too long by itself. If any of them got out, we’d never get another chance.”

“True. So, we lock the doors and exits. Easy.”

He shakes his head. “No, I was thinking... bigger.”

“Bigger?”

“Bigger is better, right?” He jokes.

“No, it's definitely the motion of the ocean. Thankfully, you’ve got a big boat to go along with those rockin’ waves,” I say with a wink and he snorts a laugh.

“Filthy mind,” he admonishes, “I was thinking more like boom.”

I perk up at that. “Boom?”

His responding grin is sinister and brilliant.

“Boom.”

“You’re sure about this guy?” I ask for the third time as we make our way down the desolate alley. Despite the seedy feel to this area, it’s such a familiar vibe that it actually calms me.

“Yeah, he’s helped me out in the past with some… other stuff,” he replies cryptically.

I nod, not needing to know more. We’re at a place together where we both acknowledge we have our own secrets, and that is okay. I don’t know if that’s healthy or not without any basis to compare it to, but it sure makes things easier.
