Can I let go all of this, truly let go once all is said and done at Eternity? And if I don’t, if I keep doing what I know best, can Killian truly handle it?

I sigh, wishing I could kiss him, touch him right now. Somehow, the answers seem to come easier when his hands are on me.

Whatever happens tomorrow, I know what I want tonight.

Ass whipping sounds like an O.K. start to me.

I lean forward. “Is that a threat, or a promise?”

I wink before walking away, making sure to add some extra sashay to my steps as I go back to the floor. I’ve never been able to resist toeing the line, and I think it's time to earn me some more punishment.

The rest of the night is blissfully uneventful, but the more I look at things, the more I’m convinced there’s more to Eternity than meets the eye. Dee is still notably absent, and I wonder if trying to talk to her was a good idea. Thinking back on the conversation, I can’t see what harm it did, other than perhaps losing my chance to find out more.

When I dance, I lose myself and my body, and my mind wanders. I think of everything and nothing in those times. Some of my best ideas and decision-making has actually happened while dancing half naked for men.

Throughout the night, I’ve determined I do need to let it go. The idea of finding out more, anyway. Tomorrow night, we’ll come back here and place a large explosive device that will kill Neil and anyone else inside. We’ll make sure no one else is inside, and then it’ll be done.

No muss, no fuss, no evidence.

It’s better that way.

Washing the last of the paint off, I head back to the bar and straight for Killian.

Until this is done, I need a distraction. And I have the perfect thing.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Tainted Love

Echo

Since I had a few drinks, Killian insisted he drive my car and leave his. I shrugged and told him to hand me another shot. Now my head is swimming pleasantly with vodka.

We kept a respectable distance as we left the club, not wanting to betray how close we are, just in case. Soon, it won’t matter.

Pedro is at the door, letting everyone out, and I stop to say hi. Killian pauses a moment to look between us, before turning and walking to the car.

“What was that?” Pedro comments, and I have to hide a smile.

“He’s giving me a lift home. Apparently, you aren’t supposed to drive after drinking,” I tell him with a wink and he laughs. Killian honks from my car and I roll my eyes.

“Apparently it’s time, have a good night.”

“Ciao, Echo.”

Killian pulls up to the door and I wave one more time to Pedro before getting into the passenger seat. Killian is looking at me with a strange expression, somewhere between murderous and humorous.

“What?”

He just shakes his head and starts the car.

“Gonna be the death of me, woman,” he mutters.

We enter my apartment and I toss my keys down, jumping when he slams the door behind me. I turn and raise a brow. He stalks toward me, a soft sort of mischief playing on his face. Licking my lips, I don’t flinch or move at his approach.

“Something the matter—Ahh!”

My hair is yanked back, face raised to his before I can finish. I gaze up into his dark eyes, challenging what I see there. His lips are mere inches from mine, but the grip on my hair is too tight for me to move closer.
