Burn to death.

What the fuck am I doing?

Scrambling up, I look down at the ropes around my wrist, my eyes assessing as quickly as they can.

Thank fuck for my Shibari training and that they didn’t use twist-ties this time.

It takes me a few minutes, but I get it off, rubbing my wrist to get the feeling in them before I scramble to my feet and dart my eyes around. A hand comes up and I smack my head, shaking it.

“Get it together,” I tell myself before darting out of the room and down the hall. I’m grateful that, in their haste, they didn’t lock the cell door again. I run the opposite way that Neil and the others went.

I don’t know where I’m going. I’m pretty fucking sure there is only one exit down here.

It isn’t until I turn a corner and see another woman standing at the door of her cell that I remember where I actually am. That I’m not alone.

Shitfuckballs.

The girl looks no more than a teenager, younger than the others I’ve seen. Her eyes speak of pain but implore me just the same.

“Fuck.”

I rush over to the cell and look down at the key lock and then at my naked body.

“I need something to pick it with,” I tell her as I look around on the ground for something, anything, I can use.

“Here,” a voice says behind me.

I turn to see Savannah holding her hand through the bars. Our eyes don’t leave one another as I take the small sliver. We nod at one another before I hurry back to the other cell.

“What is this?” I ask behind me.

“Some kind of small nail I pried from the bedframe,” she replies.

My attention is mostly on the device in front of me, but really, I’ve been doing this for years and it only takes me about thirty seconds to open it. The girl steps out, arms around her middle.

“Just a sec,” I tell her before I turn back to Savannah and quickly start working on her lock.

“What happened to you?” I ask. She coughs lightly and looks down.

“I-I actually went to Tanner to ask him to, umm, get rid of you.” I look up at her briefly to see the flushed cheeks. “He told me they didn’t like girls who caused trouble.”

The lock clicks.

“You can guess the rest,” she says with a sad smile. She coughs again before sniffing the air lightly, her eyes getting bigger. “Is that… smoke?”

My eyes widen.

Only minutes ago, the thought of dying down here with Neil and his band of merry assholes didn’t seem so bad. That was the weak old Jericho talking.

But Echo? That bitch wants to get the fuck out of here.

She’s ready to finish this.

They won’t win.

“Is there another way out of here?” I ask them both, finally noticing the rawness of my throat. They shake their heads.

“We aren’t let out, but I don’t think so,” the younger girl says, her voice hoarse.
