“They only found threewomen’sbodies and one man, but I did say trust me, didn’t I?”

Chapter Thirty-Seven

Zombie

Echo

“Only two?”

“Brat,” he snorts. “‘Only two,’ she says after I give a gift like this. I’m hurt.”

I smile at the mock anger. “And the others?”

He’s said it before, but I need to hear it again. Need to know for sure. He shakes his head.

“Peter never made it out, neither did their lackey Maynard. James died in the hospital. I can’t tell you the pain in my ass it was to make this happen, woman. The strings I had to pull? Best believe you’re going to be giving me a damn good BJ for this one.”

Grinning, I laugh as I lean up to kiss him.

“Deal.”

His arms wrap around me as his lips meet mine and for a second, I forget where we are, what we’re doing.

He pulls back and looks at me. I exhale through my nose, letting the news wash over me. Only two more. It’s almost over.

“You sure you’re okay with Dee?” he asks, staring at my face and I nod immediately. Kill told me all about what he found out. How Neil has been using her husband as leverage against her for years.

“She hates herself enough and will live with that guilt for the rest of her life. That’s good enough for me.”

He gives me a small smile.

“Are you ready?”

I smile and turn to the mirror, blowing a kiss to myself.

“As I’ll ever be. This is for Katrina too, you know,” I tell him. His hand finds my cheek, a smile on his face.

“Thank you,” he says, his voice quiet as he wraps his arms around me. I sigh, melting into his touch. The one man who can accept my hard edges and make me soft. But with him? It doesn’t feel like weakness.

My body moves to the music, effortless and flowing. Here, like this, is my moment.

You are a fucking golden goddess.

For once, I don’t temper the voice.

Killian set it up perfectly. The ruins of Eternity is the perfect, fitting place for these two to meet their end. And I’ve never been able to turn down the opportunity to put on a show.

The corner of my mouth turns up and I close my eyes, my mouth parting as I sway to the beat. My hands run up my sides and I imagine they are his. My core tightens at just the thought of his touch.

When my eyes open, they land on my small audience. Of only three, actually.

The corner of my mouth turns up as I sashay across the room.

The music is loud enough that I can’t hear the muffled screams. But Tanner’s bugged out eyes and tense neck tell me much. Neil, on the other hand, appears to be silent. His blue eyes burn into mine, bloodshot and filled with fury.

I’ll make him scream soon enough.

Killian stands behind them, eyes only for me.
