Dark, twisted, beautiful. All words I could easily use to describe the glorious creature laid out in front of me.

Mineis my personal favorite.

When the bomb went off, I thought she was dead. Thought maybe she figured her only option to take them down was suicide. I didn’t know, but I spent almost five hours believing it to be true before the firefighters pulled their bodies from the basement wreckage.

When I went back to my contacts to find out what happened, I got nowhere. They couldn’t tell me how the bomb had gone off. That didn’t sit right with me. Echo made it out but fuckingbarely. As it was, she spent a week in the hospital dealing with her injuries and the after-effects of the smoke inhalation. If she had been upstairs, if it had gone off in her apartment, then she’d be dead right now. I can only assume it was something faulty with the bomb.

Thankfully, Atlas was willing to do one last favor for me. Echo doesn’t need to know that part, she’s had enough killing and revenge in her life.

Part of me wonders if allowing her to kill Neil and Tanner was a good idea. Vengeance shouldn’t be terribly healthy, but somehow, Echo has walked away from it unscathed and unaffected. If anything, she is more easygoing and carefree than I’ve ever seen her. Sexual and not a little deviant, but happy. Truly happy.

I’ll admit that I’ve found a sense of peace I didn’t know I needed either. Between getting justice for Katrina and not being under the thumb of the Iron Elite and Eternity, I can finally breathe freely.

She smiles up at me, reaching her hands out for me. With a grin, I lean down to her.

I’ve never been one to leave a lady wanting.

The End
