"Very," I agree.

A shadow covers us and we look up as Connor falls onto the grass beside us.

"I'm exhausted," he whines, leaning over to give Phoebe a quick kiss. "I'm sleeping in every day during break. Unless of course, you wake me." He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively at Phoebe.

I pretend to gag. "Gross. Keep it family friendly. Some of us are innocent here."

They both laugh, Phoebe shoving her empty container into her bag. "Where? Because I sure as shit don't see anyone innocent here."

Shaking my head, I pull out my phone to check the time. I have to swing by the library before I leave campus to return some books. It's on the other side, and I groan as I see I only have a small window to get there before they close.

"Fuck, I have to run. I'll text you guys later."

Waving them goodbye, I briskly walk off, swinging my bag onto my back. There's not too many people around this afternoon, many already finished for the term.

As I approach the library, I can see the librarians packing things away. I quickly head in, dropping my books into the book return shoot at the front counter. At least, that's one less thing to stress about before break.

I take my time heading out, digging into my bag to find my AirPods. As I round the corner to exit, I run into someone, making me lose my grip on my bag.

"Ah, shit. Sorry," I mutter, looking up.

Jenny glares at me, her body tense as we have a Mexican standoff on the library steps. I pause, staring back before leaning down and snatching my bag off the ground. I go to move past her when she whips around to face me.

"Are you fucking my boyfriend?"

I halt, stunned as I look back at her. "You're kidding, right?"

She crosses her arms, sending daggers at me. "It's a valid question, Rylee."

"He's my stepbrother," coldly responding to her accusation.

Jenny huffs, rolling her eyes. "You looked pretty cozy the other day. And now he's not even coming on our trip. I can't think of any other reason why that could be."

What? That was news to me. Since when had Asher changed his plans. And why the fuck had he?

Keeping my face straight, I shrug. "Don't know what to tell you, Jenny. But I'm not responsible for his calendar. As far as I'm concerned, Asher can sit on a pineapple and rotate."

People are staring at us, drawn into the drama as they pass. Jenny steps forward, closing the gap between us. She lifts a manicured finger, pointing it at me.

"Keep your hands off him. I'm warning you."

"Always the drama queen. Let me make this clear for you," I scowl at her. "I don't want your stupid boyfriend. I don't even like the fucker. If you have any issue, take it up with him. In fact, nag him to go on your stupid trip because I don't want him at the house."

Spinning around, I walk away, anger building that my well-laid out plans were now burning down in flames. Asher's speciality is driving me insane and ruining my plans, and this is no different. I wanted to enjoy my break but it seems Asher has other plans, and I suspect it has something to do with the game.

Well, if that's how he wants to play it, then I'll bring the heat. After all, it's my turn to give him a dare.

I slam the front door shut with such force, the sound rings out through the whole house. I know Asher is here somewhere, his Aston Martin is out the front. And I'm going to kick his ass when I find him.

My feet stomp up the stairs as I head straight for his room. This is utterly ridiculous. The audacity of the asshole for ruining my break. Is it too much to ask that everyone leave the house for five goddamn minutes?

The door is unlocked as I swing it open violently. Asher jumps from his computer desk, giving me a confused look as he takes in my angry state.

"What's your problem?" he asks, raising an eyebrow.

I stalk into the room. "You! Why are you not going away with your bunch of deadbeat friends?"

Asher puts his pen down, swinging his chair around to face me. "And why are you upset about this?"
