He shrugged, scratching his arm. It was always a tell tale sign that he was coming off a high. But he was a good guy. "Collecting and sorting out paperwork. What about you? How'sWoodlands?" he sniggered.

"Fucking different from Argento, that's for sure. Hey, reckon I could have a look at that paperwork?"

Benny gave me a sceptical look. "I don't know, bro. I might get in shit for it. And you know what that means…" he drew his finger across his neck, making a slicing noise.

He was right. It's probably a death sentence for him too, so I'd have to be smart about it.

"I know, I know. I'm just in a bind. My father has changed my targets and I need all the help I can get. I wouldn't tell anyone or take it."

We both looked over to the path behind us. Footsteps were approaching so we needed to wrap this up.

"Okay, fine. I'll let you know when I have it. But don't tell anyone, Levi. I'm counting on you."

I gave him a fist bump, doing my best to assure him. "I promise, buddy. If you have my back, I'll have yours."

I spent the rest of the weekend, doing intel and research into the Spades Trio. I already knew a lot about them, but I needed more. The downside was the more I looked into them, the more it could be flagged at their end. But, we might have a mutual interest so it's a problem I could deal with if it came up.

Or, if they gave me the opportunity.

Let's be real. Reed Xanderson was an asshole who wouldn't hesitate to take out a threat. Not to mention his side men, Grayson Parker and Colton Cadman. They were just as vicious as he was, and I didn't have the Hunters on my side. Not with this. It would be three against one, and my father wouldn't even blink if they took me down. The only inconvenience would be finding someone else to step in and change the plans.

After school on Monday, I decided to hang around. Quinn had been pulled into detention. I had no where else to be so waiting an hour or so for my girl was definitely worth it.

Standing by her car in the parking lot, I grinned as she ran over to me after detention.

"Levi! What are you doing here?" she asked, throwing her arms around me.

"I wanted to surprise you," I said, pressing a soft kiss to her neck. Her curls always smelt so good, an intoxicating scent that drove me wild.

Quinn leaned up, kissing me. "I'm glad. I had to send Blair home without me because of Rafferty. Do you want to get a bite to eat at Oreo's?"

I nodded, kissing her back. "Always, babe. Then later, I'm going to eat you."

She grinned in response, pulling me towards the car door. "We'll take my car. I have to fill you in on the weekend."

We got into her little Mazda, her hand finding mine as she switched on the ignition. "So, I'm mad at Blair."

"Why?" I asked, surprised.

Quinn sighed, pulling out of the car park. "Because she didn't get back to me after the party on Friday. Instead, she took off to the fighting ring."

"What?" I nearly yelled. She was going to be the death of me. How stupid was she? She's nearly been killed twice and instead of being smart, she's going to illegal MMA rings.

"I know," Quinn said, letting out a huff. "Worst still, she was with the Spades."

I didn't say anything, instead just giving her a shocked stare. We sat in silence for a few minutes, the town passing us by as we got closer to Oreo's.

"She's being stupid," I finally muttered. Not the nicest thing to have said, but it's the truth. Blair was making bad choices, some of which would get herand mekilled.

"Yeah. But you know what Blair's like," Quinn mumbled softly. "She's always chasing the highs, desperate to find the edge and swing off it. All we can do is love her, scold her and hope she behaves herself."

I snorted, a chuckle breaking free. "Sounds like we might have our work cut out for us."

"Nah," Quinn squeezed my hand. "It's like a fun adventure. It's just worrying that she's hanging with the Spades. Who knows though, maybe it's just a one-off?"

Oreo's came into view and my mind started thinking about the menu, trying to decide what I was going to order. I'm a guy, so sue me. We like food and sex. It's the easiest and quickest way to our hearts.

As Quinn parked the car, I leaned over, taking a moment to have her lips again before we headed inside. She'd always be my first preference for food.
