“You don’t get to talk to her like that,” Demon said. “Now, we can do this the hard way, or you two can let my woman go and walk out of here without any new holes in your bodies. Or you can choose to stay where you are and find out what a gunshot wound feels like. What’s it going to be?” he asked.

“This wasn’t part of the deal,” the other guy said to his partner. “We were supposed to break into her place and get an address where we could find Joel or Brandon.”

“The ghosts are looking for Brandon Jean too?” Demon asked. “I thought that your quarrel with him was settled after you tried to kill his daughter Dizzy,” he said. They had gone after Brandon’s three girls and Dizzy was a part of the Royal Bastards now as Mason Zane’s woman. Last he heard, they weren’t coming after Brandon or his family anymore, which was a good idea since both he and Mason were with the FBI.

“That’s none of your business,” the other guy spat, “and, you need to keep your fucking mouth shut,” he said to his partner. “We need to get out of here.”

“I think that’s a fantastic idea, asshole,” Luna spat. His girl was fierce. How could he not have fallen for her in the short time that they had been together? It was going to be impossible for him to not fall in love with her—she was fucking perfect for him.

The two guys cautiously walked out of the room past Demon, keeping their eyes on him the whole way. They were smart to do so because with every passing second that they took to leave Luna’s apartment, he wanted to go against his word and fill them both with new holes.

She sat up on the bed and looked at him as if he had lost his mind. “You’re just going to let them walk out of here?” she shouted at him.

“I am,” he calmly said. He holstered his gun and walked across her room to pull her from her bed into his arms. “Are you all right? Did they hurt you?”

“No,” she said, “I’m not all right, and no, they didn’t hurt me. They were going to, but then, you got here and saved the day.”

He smiled at her, brushing her long hair back from her face. “So, I’m your hero then?” he teased.

“You’re something all right,” she joked. “Thank you, Demon. I’m sorry that I took off, but I just needed time to think about what you told Joel.”

“About having feelings for you?” he asked.

“Yeah, about that,” she said.

“And what have you come up with—you know, while you were running away from me, breaking our rules, and thinking about the fact that I’m in love with you?” he asked.

“You’re in love with me?” she questioned.

“I am,” he admitted. “You’re the strongest, brattiest, most frustrating woman that I’ve ever met, Luna, and I’m in love with you.” She swiped at the tears that ran down her face and he wasn’t sure if they were a good or bad sign. Demon never knew what to do with a woman when she cried but holding her felt like the way to go.

“I love you too, Demon,” she said. “I was walking back here, going over the past few days with you and I realized that I felt the same way about you. I was going to call you to come to get me when I walked into my place and found those two clowns going through my stuff.”

“You were going to call me?” he asked.

“Yeah, I wanted to tell you that I love you too, and to come to pick me up and take me home. I want to be with you, Demon, if that’s something that you still want.” They hadn’t really talked about her moving into his place permanently, but he had to admit, he loved the idea.

“I think that sounds like a damn good plan, honey,” he agreed.

“Okay, can you two cut the mushy shit out while I’m in the room?” Joel asked, walking into Luna’s bedroom.

“You got my text then?” Demon asked her brother.

“I did, thanks man, and thanks for rescuing my sister,” he said.

“She didn’t need much rescuing,” Demon admitted. “Your little sister is pretty damn fierce. She was holding her own with those two assholes when I got here.” Luna smiled up at him and he couldn’t help but gently kiss her lips, even if her brother was standing in the corner of the room protesting their display.

“Okay, you two, enough,” Joel grumbled.

“So, you let them go knowing that my brother would be waiting outside for them?” Luna asked.

“I did,” he admitted. “I texted Joel on my way in here and knew that he’d be out there waiting for those assholes if I just let them walk out of here. It was the safest way to make sure that they left, and you didn’t get caught up in the middle of a gunfight.”

“You really are a demon,” she teased. “It’s one of the things that I love most about you,” she leaned in to whisper into his ear, causing him to chuckle.

“We’ll have to ask you both to come down to the station to answer a few questions, but that can wait until tomorrow. Tonight, you’ll have to find someplace else to stay, Sis. Your apartment is considered a crime scene and we’ll have to go through it.”

“She’ll be staying with me from here on out,” Demon insisted. “She’s moving in with me, right honey?” he asked her.
