Lynx

Every single thing about her captivated me. Her smile. The way she tossed her hair off her shoulders. The sway of her hips when she walked. Her squeezable ass my hands begged to grab.

Her lips. Just thinking about her lips made me hard.

I couldn’t stop studying Jaynee on the security monitor in my office. Maybe hiring her had been a bad idea. How would I ever get any work done if I couldn’t stop watching her?

How would I pull away from her if we were constantly together?

Stop it, Lynx. In less than a week, you’ve gotten attached to them.

I was attached. No matter how hard I tried to not think about them, not want to be with them, or imagine a future with them, I couldn’t stop myself. I definitely wasn’t happy about it either. Or was I only lying to myself?

After spending most of my adult life fearing the unknown, Jaynee and Sadie had somehow given me the courage to hope, to find out if maybe I could have the life I always wanted.

It was eight o’clock. Time to check in with Tina as planned. I dialed her number and listened to it ring on speaker.

Jaynee entered my office just as Tina answered. “Hello, Lynx. I have Sadie right here, anxiously waiting to talk to you and Jaynee.”

“Perfect, Tina. Thanks.”

“You betcha.”

“Zander? Mommy?” Sadie’s excited voice made Jaynee and me smile.

“Hey, peanut,” I replied.

Jaynee sat down and leaned toward my desk. “Hi, baby. Are you doing okay?” She’d been worried about leaving Sadie with Tina, but I’d convinced her she would be fine. Karma could’ve watched Sadie, but I preferred my little peanut to stay on the compound where my brothers could protect her.

My little peanut. It was as if I’d already claimed them.

“Mhm. I played with Birdie and Dante before they went to bed. They’re so cute. When are you coming to get me?”

Jaynee looked to me for an answer since I drove her to work.

“Peanut, it’ll be late. You’ll probably be asleep,” I told her.

“I’m not tired. I want to see you, Zander. I miss you.”

Dang, her response stabbed me in the heart. I’d been busy all day with club stuff, so I didn’t get to spend any time with Sadie after I picked them up. We’d only dropped her off with Tina and headed to The Bullet. I missed peanut too.

“If you’re awake when we get there, you can see Zander. How does that sound?” Jaynee asked her.

“Okay, I’ll be awake.”

We laughed. I bet she would be.

“Tina said my snack is ready. Gotta go. Bye, Mommy. Bye, Zander.”

“Bye, baby, I love you,” Jaynee replied in a sweet voice.

“See you later, peanut.”

Tina’s voice came on the line. “Okay, you two. Get back to work. Sadie is just fine.”

“Thank you so much, Tina,” Jaynee said.
