“My pleasure.”

“Call if you need anything,” I told her like Sadie was my child. It was strange feeling this way about people I hardly knew.

“You know I will. Bye now.”

Jaynee reclined in the chair. “Phew. Your bar is busy tonight.”

I stared at her for a long second. So beautiful. “Are you hungry? Thirsty?”

She waved her water bottle in front of her. “I’m good.”

I furrowed my brow. “Did you eat before I picked you up? Sadie ate at the club.” I hadn’t seen Jaynee eat since McDonald’s, which was only one bite of the burger I’d bought her.

“Stop worrying. If I’m hungry, I’ll eat. Just let me breathe for the remainder of my break.” She exhaled a heavy breath.

Naturally, my eyes dropped to her chest. Her breasts were large and round. Were they real or fake? It didn’t matter. I’d get lost in them either way.

“Have you been busy back here?”

I glanced at the monitor. “Oh, yeah. The usual.”

“Hmm.” Her gaze traveled around the room. There wasn’t much to see. I wasn’t the type to hang pictures or clutter up my space.

I sensed she was avoiding eye contact. We’d been weird with each other today. I was sure it had to do with last night’s call.

“You know, by the time we get to the club, it’ll be almost midnight. You and Sadie can spend the night with me.” It was like my mouth had a mind of its own. Good. I typically didn’t drag my feet when I wanted something or someone. With Jaynee, I found myself being ultra-cautious, but why the fuck was I?

No more. Just go for it, man, and see what happens.

Her eyes shot to mine. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

I got out of my chair and went to her. Taking her hand, I pulled her up. “Nothing has to happen. I’m just giving you another option.” I ran my fingers through her hair.

“You’re confusing me, Zander.”

I frowned. “How so?”

“Well… I don’t know. You said you don’t do relationships, and I said I don’t do hookups.”

“Maybe I’m reconsidering.”

“Maybe I am too.” The uncertainty in her eyes seemed to battle with her body language as she leaned closer.

I slipped my arms around her waist, pulling her into my body. “You’re reconsidering hooking up?” I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. I wanted her to make demands and stick to them.

“I don’t know. Sadie and I are moving, remember?”

“Let’s not talk about it until you know for sure.”

“Well, I thought I did know for sure.” She placed her hand on my chest.

“But you have options, Jay.” I lowered my lips to hers. When she didn’t move back or object, I sealed mine to hers.

I moved my lips slowly, intentionally. With her, I didn’t use my usual playlist of moves. I didn’t call her sweetheart like I did the women I bedded. I didn’t see her as a warm body for the night.

Everything with Jaynee was new, exciting, and freaking scary.

I spread her lips, dipping my tongue in her mouth for a taste. She curled hers with mine, and I was done. My heart raced as I pushed her against the door. I wanted her so fucking much, I could cry. I ached for her. Moving my hands over her full hips and brushing the tips of my fingers along the side of her tits was pure torture. Her soft sighs singed my ears. To have her warm body touching mine and not be able to rip her clothes off nearly made me beg for permission.
