“Lynx, are we going to your room or not?” Amber slithered up against him.

I saw red.

“Yeah,Lynx. Are you taking them to your bed? If you are, I’ll find someone else.”

His face showed no emotion. “Don’t fuck with me, Jay. This is my club. I want you to leave.”

“Okay, so that’s a yes. You’re going to fuck these skanks and live up to your manwhore title.” I didn’t mean to call them skanks, but I wasn’t in a place to be sweet and respectful. I was losing my grit, my fight. If Zander pushed me any harder, I’d leave and never return.

“You bitch,” Amber shot back. “Lynx, are you gonna let her talk to us like that?”

The music had been turned down in the room. Every pair of eyes watched us. I usually avoided drama like this, but I couldn’t walk away… yet.

For being wasted, his eyes remained locked on me. “Jay, we talked earlier. You need to leave.”

I looked over my shoulder to search for Track. Sugar was next to him, whispering in his ear as they watched Zander and me. If showing Zander what he could lose helped get his head on straight, I’d do what Sugar suggested.

“I won’t let you destroy yourself or us.”

He shook his head. His Adam’s apple bobbing, eyes shining with emotion. “Baby…”—he took my hand—“I am who I am. It’s better for you this way.”

Amber smiled and rested her head on his arm. I could scratch her eyes out.

“Do you mean that? You want me to forget you?” I’d swear he was clear-headed and not so drunk, but I couldn’t be sure.

“Get gone, Jay.” Amber sneered. Here I’d thought she was sweet before.

Zander didn’t reprimand her.

“Okay. Fuck you, Amber, and fuck you,Lynx.” I said his name with no small amount of disdain and ripped my hand away from him. My heart shattered as I turned my back on him.

At first, I headed for the exit, willing him to come after me. To stop me.

But he didn’t.

So I changed my direction at the last second and went to Track’s table. The seat next to him was vacant. Earlier, Wolf had been in it. I suspected Sugar had shooed him away. I dropped into the chair on the verge of breaking down.

Sugar leaned across Track. “You okay, honey?”

“No.” I touched Track’s arm. “You don’t have to do this. You hardly know me.”

He pinched my chin and gazed into my eyes. “I know my brother. He’s not himself right now. I’ll do what I can to stop him from fucking up his life.” He gave me a slow wink and lifted my chin as if to kiss me.

“He probably doesn’t care.” As the words left my lips, I was yanked out of the chair by my arm.

Zander got in my face. “What the fuck are you doing?”

“What? What are you talking about?” Playing dumb might be detrimental to my wellbeing, but I cared too damn much for Zander to not throw caution to the wind.

He squeezed his head between his hands as if close to boiling over. “I told you to leave.”

“Oh, that. Yeah, I don’t want to.”Think quick, Jay…“I’m horny. You’ve left me throbbing every night. I was asking Track to help me out with it.”

“I’m happy to help, brother.” Track appeared at Zander’s side. “Let me get her out of your hair. She won’t bother you once I’m done with her.” The cocky confidence in Track’s voice made me smile.

“I like the sound of that,” I told him.

Zander reared back and his arm shot in front of me like a bolt of lightning. His fist connected with Track’s jaw.
