“Tell me about riding your Harley, or hog as you’ve called it.”

“Do you think you might like to experience the freedom on it?” With me?

“Maybe. Whose bike would I ride on?”

Was she joking? “Mine.”

“Good answer. Tell me where we’d go. What it would be like.” She yawned again.

I could talk all night about riding on the open road, the sun beating down on me… Ava’s arms wrapped around my waist. It’d be the ultimate.

“Ever been out of Minnesota?”

“Nope.”

“Then we’d get on highway seventy-one and head south.”

“South where?”

“Anywhere you want, Ava.”

She hummed into my ear. “I’d go anywhere you took me.”

“Which ocean would you want to see? The Pacific or Atlantic?”

“Oh my gosh, I would love to go to the beach!” She perked up, shocking the hell out of me with the excitement in her voice. “Definitely the Pacific Ocean. California. I want to see palm trees and the blue waters meeting the blue sky.”

Damn, I wanted to be right there with her this very second.

“Then that’s where I’d take you.”

“See, Drew?”

“See what, Ava?”

“How sweet you are to me. Now tell me all the states we’d go through on our way to sunny California.”

I didn’t want to talk about a road trip just for the hell of it. I wanted it to be real, just Ava and me together—forever.

Why couldn’t she be mine?

I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Every move she made doing her workout burned into my memory. Where her gaze went, mine followed. I hung on her every word.

This woman owned me, heart and soul.

I was one lovesick man.

“Yo!”

I turned toward Boxer’s voice. He’d told me he was bringing Snow and the baby to the gym. The new mom wanted to lose the baby fat she’d gained. I didn’t see where it was, but then I never understood chicks well. There wasn’t anything wrong with having a little meat on their bones.

“Oh, I gotta see the baby.” Ava took off, wiggling her perfect ass as she practically sprinted across the room.

Kill me now.
