“Watch it,” I growled. “I need to talk to Sugar. We’ll get you patched, have a little party, then you can return to Three Forks.” I wasn’t about to keep a man from his child.

Having four of my guys in Montana wasn’t necessary. I needed manpower to keep order in my territory. I may need to call Turner in Iowa to see if he can help out if needed. The Fallen Soldiers didn’t have a lot going on—they were fortunate.

“Thanks, prez.” Cash stood, then gave Sugar a proper hug. “Do you still make tater tot hotdish on Thursdays? I’ve been missing it.”

Sugar smiled brightly. I couldn’t recall seeing her eyes sparkle as they were this second. “We sure do, but we can make it for your party tomorrow if you want?”

“That’d be amazing, Sugar. Thanks, it’s my favorite.” He left my office.

“You betcha,” Sugar hollered as she closed the door. “So you were looking for me?” She took the chair Cash had been sitting in.

“Yeah.” I studied her, looking for evidence of her spa treatment. Hell, if I noticed any difference, other than the sparkle in her eyes. “How’d it go?”

She wrinkled her brow. “How’d what go?”

I cleared my throat, reclining in my chair. “Didn’t you go to the day spa?” She didn’t need to hide anything. If she’d lied about the spa because she didn’t want me to know she went to see Jack, it wasn’t necessary. Sugar had needs, as she’d said a while back.

“Oh, um. It went well.”

“Mason City is kind of far to go for a massage, dontcha think?”

She sprung forward in her chair. “Did Grizz tell you I went to Iowa? Did he track me?” Panic flashed in her eyes.

“Why are you getting worked up, Sugar? I already know about Jack. You don’t need to hide when you go for a hook-up.”

She gasped as if horrified. “I did not have sex with Jack! I told you I haven’t been with him since last spring.”

“Then why did you go see him and lie about it?”

“He’s my friend. I needed someone to talk to.”

I narrowed my gaze. “Why? Is there something going on with you I don’t know about? And what was Art doing there too?”

“Art?”

“Yeah. Grizz said he was at the Soldier’s clubhouse when you were there. Did you not see him?” This whole conversation felt off. What wasn’t she telling me?

“I did see him. On my way out.”

I stared at her, but it didn’t seem she had any more to add. “Are you and Tina able to throw together a quick party for Cash so he can head back to Three Forks?”

“Sure, just a small family-type party? Why’s he going back?”

“We can still have the kittens attend for the single guys. Cash has a woman in Montana who’s pregnant with his baby. It’s a mess, so I’m letting him leave.”

“Oh boy. You need to havethe talkwith the prospects like Matt had with you. Do you remember it?”

I chuckled. “Sure do. He told me to wrap my dick. Fuck everywhere other than in my personal space. No kissing. No emotions. Stay indifferent. It was good advice.” I rocked in my chair. “Of course, it all went out the door with Angel.”

“As it should. Well, if there’s nothing else, I need to go help Tina with supper.”

“Nope, that should do it. But don’t forget, if you want to be with someone, I’ll get you released from the club. Jack is a good man.”

She sighed and waved me off. “Jack is only my friend.”

“Doesn’t have to be Jack. If you’re ready to start dating again, I can help you.”

“I appreciate it, but I’m good.” She left and closed the door behind her.
