“Cash.” I stood and went to give him a brotherly embrace. “Damn, you’ve bulked up.” I gripped his bicep.

“Good to see you, Prez. It’s been too long.”

“I agree. Come in and have a seat.” At least Cash could take my mind off things for a while. “So I hear you love Montana and want to return?” When I talked to Track last night, he was concerned about Cash. My prospect had gotten himself into some woman problems.

Cash sunk into the chair. “Yeah. I need to get back to Three Forks before the end of the month.”

“And why’s that?” I already knew his answer, but I didn’t want him to know Track had broken his promise to keep quiet until Cash had told me himself.

“I’m gonna be a dad.” Fear flashed his eyes. “I have responsibilities in Montana.”

“You know the gig out there wasn’t permanent. I expected you to return to Minnesota after Brynne was safe.”

“I know. I’m going to try to get her to move back with me.” He lowered his gaze to his hands. “It won’t be easy.”

Cash was twenty-three and the oldest prospect we’d had. Four years ago, he’d gone to Montana with Quinton Espada to watch over Brynne. He was well overdue getting patched in and had more than earned the privilege.

“Why won’t it be easy? She’s your girl, right?”

“No, not really. Brynne attends a lot of frat parties. I’d go and hang back in the shadows to watch over her.”

“If that’s true, how’d you get a girl pregnant when you’re guarding Brynne?” My tone came out harsh as it should. Cash had one job: protect Brynne. Fuckin’ wasn’t in his job description.

“I’d met Rachel last fall at a homecoming party. On my days off, I’d hook up with her.”

I hiked a displeased brow.

“There weren’t many days off, Prez.”

“Continue.”

“The day before I was supposed to come to Bastion last month, she’d told me she was pregnant. She wanted to get an abortion and needed money. She was terrified of her parents finding out.”

“How old is she?”

He hung his head. “Almost nineteen.”

“Fuck.” I looked at the ceiling. “Why didn’t you wrap your dick?”

“Because I’m an idiot.”

“Clearly. So what now? You obviously talked her out of an abortion.”

“Yeah, I made promises I intend to keep so she wouldn’t go through with it.”

“What kind of promises?”

“To help her and claim her.”

“But do you love her?” After knowing Justin’s history, I didn’t like hearing this.

“She’s pretty and nice.”

“Christ.”

“Storm?” Sugar was at the door. “Cash, it’s good to see you, honey.” She hugged him while he stayed in the chair.

“Hey, Sugar.” He whistled as he admired her. “Damn woman, you lookin’ good.”
