“You betcha.” Storm stalked out.

“Eve.” Words escaped me as I kissed her head.

“Why’d you tell Storm ‘under no circumstances?’”

Damn, she’d heard that? Well, I wasn’t one to lie to Eve so… “I don’t want Jack visiting you.”

“Oh, that?”

“Yeah. Has he seen you already?” If he had, I wouldn’t let it get to me. But from here on out, he better stay away from my woman.

“He bought me flowers.”

I growled.

“He didn’t stay long. Maddox and Markey were there. I made sure he knew I was with you.”

“You did?” I kissed her head.

“Of course I did. Enough about Jack.” She lifted her head to look me in the eyes. “Can I just say that was the absolute worst experience of my life?” She trembled and sniffled as a tear streaked down her face.

“Mine too, baby. How are you doing?”

“Better now that I’m with you. What about you? How’s your side?”

“I don’t feel a thing. Tell me what happened with your boys?”

“Markey has been great.” She brushed her hand over my shoulder. “Maddox apologized but also admitted it would take some time to get used to us being together.”

“I can accept that.” I yawned, which made Eve yawn.

“When we get back to the clubhouse, you can have the prospects move your stuff into my bedroom.”

“You’re inviting me to stay in your room?”

She rested her head on my shoulder. “Yes. I don’t plan to ever sleep alone ever again.”

“Maybe we should consider finding something more permanent, like a real home.”

“I’d love that.”

Storm returned with the extra blankets and Eve’s father in tow, interrupting our private moment.

“Eve, what are you doing?” he asked, staring at us snuggled closely.

“Dad, you know Art Panek, right? He’s my old man.” She waved Storm over to cover her with the blankets. “Please, I’m freezing.”

Old man? Damn, we’d come a long way in just one day.

“Another biker. Why am I not surprised?” He chuckled. “Well, Art, all I have to say is don’t hurt her, and we’ll be just fine.”

“He won’t, Jim. Or he’d have the club after him.” Storm shot me a look that said he wasn’t joking. “I’m out. You both know how to get ahold of me if you need me.”

“We do. Thank you, honey.”

“Thanks, boss.”

As Storm left, Eve’s boys entered. I half expected her to leap off the bed, but she didn’t move. Perhaps our brush with death had given her the kick in the butt she needed to not be afraid to go after what she wanted—like me.
