Chapter Eighteen

The weekend went by way too fast, and Monday morning came around too soon. Grady wished that he could stay in bed with Hannah, but even though he didn’t have to go into work today, Ava still had school. He had to get her up and take her.

Hannah rolled over and gave him a sleepy smile. “Want me to take her?”

“No!” He dropped a kiss on her lips. “You need a break. You’ve been doing so much with her. I think you should stay in bed.”

“I can get up and be ready to do whatever you want by the time you get back.”

He chuckled and drew her closer, holding her soft body against him, knowing that he’d have to wait for a certain part of his own body to be less hard before he went to wake Ava. “If you’re going to be ready for what I want when I get back, then you may as well stay right here.” He closed his hand around her ass, wishing that he didn’t have to go anywhere.

“Ooh. In that case, I’ll just close my eyes and wait for you.”

“Good girl.”

She leaned back so that she could look him in the eyes. “I wanted to talk to you about last night though.”

“What about it?”

“About you guys staying here for Christmas.”

His heart started to pound. She hadn’t changed her mind. He knew she hadn’t, but he still held his breath.

She reached up and touched his cheek. “I …”

“Tell me, Hannah, it’s okay. You can tell me anything.”

“I just don’t want to scare you.”

“You’re starting to.”

She sucked in a deep breath. “I want … I’d like for you guys to stay for more than Christmas.”

He smiled. “Through New Year’s?”

“Yes, but that’s not what I mean. What I’m scared to ask is if you want to move in – properly. I know you kind of already have, but we made that about Ava and because I was standing in for Mel, but I don’t want to be a stand-in, I don’t want to just help. I want to be part of it.”

Grady’s heart felt like it was exploding in his chest with happiness. He dropped a kiss on her lips. “You already are part of it. You’re the heart of it. We’re becoming a little family already. I love you, Hannah.”

Her eyes filled with tears. “I love you, too.”

“Are you sure you want us to move in here? I don’t want you to feel like we’re mooching off you.”

She laughed. “I don’t, and that’s something we’re going to have to talk about at some point. I know that you men have your pride when it comes to money and providing, and I don’t want to trample on any of that. But I’m an oddity in that respect. Money really isn’t an issue for me. And it doesn’t have to be one for us, not unless you need to make it one.”

“I don’t think I do, but you’re right, it’s something that we need to talk about. I don’t need to be the big caveman.” He winked at her. “Not about money, anyway. But it’s something I need to think about, and we need to figure out.”

She pressed a kiss to his lips. “I know. That’s why I brought it up now – when you have to go out. You can think about it without me watching.”

“Have I told you lately how amazing you are?”

“Nope. I don’t believe you have. You can tell me all about it when you get back.”

He laughed. “I won’t just tell you; I’ll show you.”

“Ooh! Sounds good. Is that the caveman thing again; actions are better than words?”

He nuzzled his face into her neck and nibbled the soft skin there. “Yup,” he breathed. “Me man. You woman. We fuck.”
