The woman disappeared behind a large door, and Daddy rested his chin on my head. I took a moment to secretly take him in. He wore black leather-bound steel-toe boots, with form fitting faded indigo jeans and a tightly fitted polo that showed off his massive muscles.

“Are you a cowboy?” I asked as I peered up to lock his gaze.

The brim of his hat curved the sliver of light coming in from the large windows and made his eyes twinkle.

“Maybe. Why? You want to ride Daddy?” His lips found the lobe of my ear, and he nibbled. “I’m an easy ride. Just straddle Daddy’s cock and hold on tight.”

Before I could reply to his salacious remark, the woman returned with a large tray. The food smelled delicious, and I was dying to get my fingers into those chili fries.

“Now, make sure you don’t shove that extra large corn dog down your throat. We don’t want you to choke.” She gave a warm smile as she reached for Daddy’s credit card.

Daddy let an ominous chuckle roll off his tongue, “Oh, she doesn’t mind a little challenge.”

“Daddy,” I hissed, but I covered my mouth once the words dripped off my lips, realizing I had said them out loud.I said them out loud.

We found a table near a wooden wall outlined with colorful lights. The dim light from the setting sun settled in our line of sight, and Daddy took a seat across from me. We ate in silence for a few minutes, and he watched me like a hawk. I nibbled on a few greasy fries and took a swig of my ice tea before toying with the idea of picking up the super-sized corned dog. He bound his gaze on the corndog as I lifted it to my lips, daring to not even blink as I took a bite out of it. I swept my glance to the ceiling as I chewed, and his knee-buckling smile sprawled across his face.

“Stop being such a–”

“A dirty old bastard?” He interrupted me.

Laughter erupted from my throat, startling a pair of customers sitting adjacent to our table.

I pinched a few fries between my fingers and lifted them from the basket, “I was going to say stop being such a weirdo.”

He did that thing again, where he jogged his eyebrows up and down in a sexy manner. He finished his food in less than ten bites, but took me an eternity. Although Daddy was crazy about me, certain things like eating in public still haunted me. Consuming my food in one quickly wasn’t a luxury a fat girl like me had. We took small bites, made sure never to spill anything on ourselves, and used utensils for everything. It was the unwritten code of fat girls around the world. I took one more bite of the huge corn dog and then pushed it aside.

“Done?” He asked as he stole a few of my chili fries.

I nodded and placed my elbow on the worn wooden table as I watched a small crowd tumble into the restaurant.

“Baby?” He reached over and tucked a strand of loose hair behind my ear.” “Don’t ever hide from me. The moment I saw you on cam was the moment I knew I’ll never be able to let you go.” He stroked my cheek and slid his tongue across his bottom lip. “Also, I love it when you call me Daddy in public.” He winked and let his hand drop to the table.

His words ticked my heart in a lively tango, and my core became saturated with butterflies. The whole situation made me believe I was in some sort of fairytale. I blinked back the tears threatening this moment and took another sip of my tea. He pinched a few more fries between his fingers and hovered them in front of my lips. I opened it slowly and gobbled down the yumminess.

“Do you have a boyfriend?”

His words took me by surprise, and I shook my head with wide eyes. “What?” I asked as I wiped my mouth.

He shrugged and licked his fingers. “Just wanted to make sure. You know, just in case I needed to hire my guy to unalive him.”

My posture firmed at his words. “You wouldn’t.”

A whiff of his cologne tickled my nostrils as he leaned in, “for you, I’ll end a thousand lives.”

His lips grazed my cheek, and then he stood. Placing my hand in his, we tossed the liners of our baskets into the trash and headed toward the door. The older lady who took our order stood by the entrance with a broom. I waved and relayed a warm smile.

“No dessert today?” She yelled from behind us.

Daddy turned to face the woman, and his words made me freeze in my tracks. He winked and grabbed my hand.

My dessert is standing next to me.

When we returned to her neighborhood, the sun had set, and the sky was a starless shade of royal blue. As I turned onto her street, the air became thicker, and she inhaled a deep breath.

“I got you,” I said as I placed my hand on her thigh.

She turned to look at her house. All the lights were out, which meant her father hadn’t returned home. He sure as hell cashed the check I gave him, though. I got a notification earlier in the day from my bank. She unclipped her seatbelt, and I bolted out of the driver’s side and hurried to the passenger side. I knew she could get down by herself, but this gave me a reason to constantly have her in my grasp. I lifted her into my arms and set her down gently on the sidewalk. Then we stared at each other as a beat of silence passed between us. The worry that consumed her at this point could be seen a million miles away, but I pretended I didn’t see it and followed her up the front steps.
