I shake my head, cupping the side of his face and forcing him to turn to look at me. But I don’t think words will convince him. I need to show him.

“Want me to come upstairs? We can face tomorrow together?” I ask as Theo gnaws on his bottom lip.

“You shouldn’t.”

“I should,” I say sternly.

His eyelids close and he nods. “Okay.”

Curie bellows loudly from her crate, breaking the moment.

Alright then, Theo. You don’t need to say much. I’ve got it.

I’m staying.

THEO

I wakethe next morning entangled with Logan, my arm thrown around him, my leg tucked between the two of his, and his face smooshed into my neck. As I lie there reveling in the feel of his soft puffs of breath against my skin, the memory of last night comes back to me in fragments and my entire body starts to heat.

The way he’d kissed me so gently as soon as the apartment door clicked shut.

How he’d carried me to the bed, stripping off my clothes, like he was unwrapping a present.

How he’d laid on top of me, propped on his forearms, his cock entering me slowly.

The way he kissed and touched me so affectionately as he thrust into me.

It felt like making love—or what I thought making love would feel like.

Is that what we are now? Is that what he wants? God, I hope that’s what he wants. What am I going to do if that’s not what he wants? Fuck, I am so screwed.

“Morning,” he croaks into my neck. I jump slightly at the abruptness, and he pulls his head back so I can see his sleep-rumpled face. Damn, he’s even more gorgeous when he’s scruffy and disheveled. Blinking up at me, he rasps, “How long have you been awake?”

“Not very long.”

“Liar. You were laying here overthinking last night, weren’t you?”

I reach over and twist his nipple.

He gasps and I chuckle.

“You’re evil,” he mutters.

“You asked for it,” I say, smiling.

He grins and runs a hand across my jaw so tenderly and smacks a chaste kiss on my lips.

“You going to be okay today?”

Oh shit. It completely slipped my mind that I’m meeting my dad for coffee this morning. We’re going totalk.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine,” I lie and then sit up on the bed, running a hand through my tousled hair. Curie is asleep between Logan’s ankles, looking like a loaf of bread.

“You sure you don’t want me to come?” he asks while rubbing my back, and I debate it, seriously wondering if I should bring him into this. Ultimately, I decide that I’m going to. I want him there. Ineedhim there.

I nod. “Please.”
