“So this person is different?” The woman pushed her round glasses onto the top of her head.

“Well, yeah. She is different in all the best ways." Too late. I sounded like a douche.

“Tell me something about her," she said, eyeing me kindly. Her hands were clasped together and resting on the glass countertop.

I huffed out a breath of air along with a slight chuckle. “How can I put this politely? We met yesterday, and I haven’t seen her tits yet.”

I expected the woman to be shocked, but she just laughed. "Go on."

“She’s kind and funny." I thought about how much she enjoyed the ride on my motorcycle. "She has a wild streak and a bit of sass."

“Okay.” She nodded thoughtfully. “Give me ten minutes, and I’ll have something ready.”

"Really? I don't just give her roses or something?" I was new to this, and that had me embarrassed.

"I guess you could, but if you want, I can create a bouquet that describes all you've mentioned. That'll make the flowers more personal."

"Let's do that."

She winked. "Be right back."

While she worked, I meandered. They sold stuffed animals, balloons, cards, and other little trinkets. If Lux asked, I would buy her the world. But I didn't think she would. She wasn't that kind of woman.

I went to one of the floor-to-ceiling windows and watched the end-of-day traffic move along the road. I’d never wanted a nine-to-five job or the white picket fence to come home to. All I'd cared about were motorcycles. They'd been my first and only love. At the thought of the feelings and changes moving through me, I had a moment of panic. What the fuck was I doing with this woman? Did I want my life to change for her?

My first thought was fuck yeah. But I wasn't sure that trusting that was a good idea. Yet, she was all I'd thought about since dropping her at her car. I’d never believed in instant love. Sure instant lust was a definite thing. I'd experienced that often and with great pleasure. But it was different with Lux. Did I want to fuck her? Damn straight. But I also wanted to get to know her as well.

"Here we are," the lady said, interrupting my thoughts.

I faced the counter and saw a bright and lovely array of flowers. They made my heart spark with joy. The flowers reminded me of Lux.

"These are amazing," I said, moving to the counter.

The woman had tied the bouquet with rustic twine. I looked them over. Some of the flowers I'd never seen before.

"Thank you. How much do I owe you?" I asked, taking my wallet from my back pocket.

"Don't you want to know what they mean?"

The flowers had meaning. How fucking cool. "Sure."

"Yellow roses represent joy while the flame lily represents her sass." She chuckled as she pointed to each flower. "These hydrangeas signify beauty, and the red orchid stands for fire, passion, and desire. The remaining flowers and greenery are for balance and happiness." She gave me a bright smile.

"I appreciate this, ma'am. This bouquet is Lux."

"Glad you like them. Hope she will too." She rang up the bill, surprisingly easy on the wallet, and wished me a wonderful date.

I had a good feeling it would be, whatever happened.

RUSH

The positive vibeevaporated fast once I pulled up outside the tidy condo Lux had given me as an address. The garden, laid with lawn and borders of bright flowers, closing for the night now the sun had gone around. The outside was modern and maybe just ever so slightly bland. A twitch from the curtains alerted me to someone watching. I took a deep breath, took hold of the flowers, and got out of the car.

As I made my way up the walk, the front door opened. It wasn't Lux but an older woman. She was beautiful, though she appeared tired. Her features were like Lux's. The woman had to be Lux's mom.
