I couldn’t do this anymore.

“You’re right,” I finally conceded. “It’s none of my business. You’re none of my business.”

And just when I thought that I’d tapped into my reserves enough to withstand what this girl did to me, she had to go fuck me up some more by saying my name.

“Fox-”

Once again, my hand was around her throat, and I had her pinned up against the block wall. “Don’t,” I practically roared. “Do not call me that.” She was Black and I was Harrington. Anything more and there was no telling what would happen.

Whatever it was that made Kincaid the person that she was, lifted her chin. “I’m not fucking Alexander,” she repeated. “I’m not fucking anyone.”

That last part had been unnecessary.

It had also been telling.

My thumb began caressing her jaw, my hand still clamped around her neck. Even God himself couldn’t stop the one word that’s been trying to break free for three years. “Baby…”

Kincaid’s entire body collapsed against the wall, her eyes flaring with a look that I was all too familiar with. A look that had never failed to drive me to my knees.

Blood started roaring like waves in my ears. My heart felt like it was going to beat clean out of my chest. My entire body felt like a torch set on fire. I felt like my soul was trying to break free, like it knew hers was near. A caged tiger had nothing on what I was feeling for this girl right now.

“Fox-”

“Be sure, Kincaid,” I told her, the pain of her name on my tongue sharp. I haven’t called her anything but Black in three years. The feelings of familiarity were like sharp daggers of frozen temperatures all over my body. All those hibernated emotions were waking up, and it was painful as fuck.

Her eyes dropped to my lips, and I could practically taste her need for me. No matter who there’s been after me, and no matter who there’s been after her, there was no point in lying to ourselves or each other. No one else could ever do for her what I did, and the same could be said for me.

When her black gaze shot back up to lock with mine, it really was clear to me that I’d have to really kill her in order to ever be free of her. The only problem now? Between Saxton’s truths and her softening before me now, there was no way I was ever going to let Kincaid walk away from me a second time. I didn’t care what her secrets were. We weren’t doing this a second time.

“Be sure, Kincaid,” I repeated. “I’m not letting you go a second time.”

“It’s not that simple,” she whispered, the emotion in her voice nearly cutting me off at the knees.

My hand loosened around her neck, then traveled low until it slid over her heavy tit, the nipple already poking at my palm. “I don’t care about simple,” I told her. “I only care about you.” I squeezed her tit, and Kincaid’s eyes closed as her head dropped back against the wall.

“Fox…” she moaned, and nothing else mattered after that.

“Say yes, Kincaid,” I practically begged. “Tell me yes, baby.”

I wasn’t sure if she could hear it in my voice or not, but I wasn’t begging for sex. I didn’t need to beg for sex. My last name came with an almost guarantee that I’d get laid if I hit on a girl. So, this wasn’t about sex. I wasn’t begging for sex. I was begging for my fucking life.

Grabbing her face with my other hand, I said, “Open your eyes.” Her eyes opened and they were swarming with naked need. “Say yes, Kincaid,” I repeated. “Tell me you want this.”

With one word from her vicious lips, everything changed. “Yes.”
