Letting go of her hand, I said, “I’m pretty sure that’s the other way around.”

“Either way, I’m glad to finally meet you.”

“Same here,” I replied.

Marley turned back to look at Josh. “So, what’s the plan for tonight? You guys hitting up the clubs?”

Josh immediately looked taken aback by her question. “Well…if we go out, I was hoping that you’d come with us,” he told her. “Unless…you didn’t want to, of course.”

She looked a little sheepish when she said, “Well, I understand if you guys want some guy time. I mean, I know you haven’t seen each other in a while.”

“We don’t need any guy time,” I assured her. “The point of this trip was to see Joshua, but to also meet the girl that he can’t stop talking about.”

I didn’t think her smile could get any bigger, but it did. “Can’t stop talking about me, huh?”

Josh wrapped his arms around her from behind. “You know it.”

“Look, I say the more, the merrier,” I told her. “I think a night out, getting to know each other, is just want we need.”

“Sounds good to me,” Marley replied enthusiastically. “We can go to dinner, then hit up whatever bar or club is packed with a good time.”

Josh slapped her on the ass as she wiggled out of his arms to head back towards their bedroom. “I’ll meet you in the shower.”

“You better,” she sing-songed as she walked out of the room.

As soon as she was out of earshot, Josh shot me a look. “Are you sure you’re okay with it being a group thing? If you’d rather not party, we can-”

“Nah, a night out sounds perfect,” I sighed. “I haven’t had one of those in a long time.” The last time I’d gone to a party to get out of my head, Kincaid and Hastings had been there, and the night had ended with me hauling Kincaid out of the party over my shoulder. It’d been the beginning of the shitshow that we were stuck in now.

“Cool,” he remarked dramatically. “I’m going to go help my girl shower, then we can be on our way.”

It was still kind of early, but I didn’t mind. It would just mean that we’d get a good table at wherever we ended up. “Sounds good.”

As Joshua went to love on his girl, I headed back towards the guest room. Joshua had a guest bathroom that I planned on making use of, and hopefully there was enough hot water for all of us. If not, tequila was a good tension reliever.

I was in the middle of gathering my shit to go shower when my phone chimed with a text notification. Glancing down at my phone, I wish I hadn’t. I didn’t have time for this.

Cotton: Where u at? Got sum pussy that wants 2 meet u

Even if Kincaid weren’t in the picture, I had no interest in meeting any girls that would be attracted to my brother. Besides, it wasn’t like I could even meet them, even if I wanted to. We didn’t live in the same city. So, that meant that he wanted to facetime or some shit, and wanted to use me to help him get laid. It happened more often than I’d like.

Me: Not interested

Cotton: Ur an asshole.

Yeah, because I was the asshole.
