I need this. Need to feel a man’s hands on my body. To beloved. Taken. Desired likeno onehas ever done before. The only times I slept with someone the desire was not enough to meet my expectations. And when Corey turns me around, laying full length on my body,I knowdeep down things won’t be any different this time.

His kisses are invigorating, his touch is skillful, but my body doesn’t vibrate as much as when I do it alone. Caressing me with my fingertips to the rhythm of my desires, my imaginary scenarios.

I arrive in the kitchen of Gabriel and Milo, bringing a few plates with me.

“Do you need help, babe?” Milos asks.

“Just get the ice cream out,” Gabriel replies, as he puts our silverware in the dishwasher. “Unless the guys want something else?”

“The guys will eat what you offer them,” I say seriously.

Milo laughs, retrieving the cardboard boxes from the freezer to join his buddies in the living room.

“Now I understand why Nolan is such a pain in the ass with you,” sneers Gabriel. “You seem to have quite a temper.”

“I don’t know how to take that.” I smile, aware that he’s just saying that because I don’t let myself be fooled by the little group of people who are screaming in the next room. “Let’s say it’s a quality that I must have acquired growing up alongside these freaks.”

I nod towards the door that leads to the living room. Gabriel laughs.

“I’m delighted to be an only child!”

He leans against the counter, watching me for a second with a cheeky smile. We arrived at their house more than two hours ago and I officially met the man who made Milo Sullivan’s heart capsize. I have known the latter since my first year of college, and I admit that I was surprised to discover that he had done his coming out. Even if I have the impression that he only gives a chance to Gabriel, since last I heard he was sufficiently satisfied with women. My brother told me he was probably bisexual, but then again Milo does everything not to put himself inanycategory. And I understand him. Nothing could be more reductive for a man like him, whose sexuality fluctuatesdepending on the people he meets, than to label himself stupidly.

“How is the roommate situation going, then?”

“Pretty good.”

“And with Nolan?”

I frown, casting a quick glance behind my back to make sure no one is coming in. I barely know Gabriel, and even though I got along with him right away and talking to him is simple, the subject he brings up embarrasses me more than anything else.

“Nolan?”

“I don’t know. You seem to care a lot about him.”

“I’m dating someone,” I can’t help but justify. “Nolan is like…”

“A brother?”

I nod silently, stepping back as if my body is urgently trying to escape Gabriel’s analytical gaze.

“We should go back to them.”

“Scarlett,” he stops me.

He walks around the counter to stand in front of me. His eyes dive into mine and the face he wears tell me I’m not going to like where this is heading. My body tenses up and I put the most impassive mask on my face.

At least I try to.

“Nolan is…”

He searches for his words for a second, casts a furtive glance around him before adding, “Nolan really cares about you, as does Leo. But I don’t think he can ever feel what youfeel.”
