"Bloody hell, would ye—"

She plunges her body onto my cock. Seated astride me, with the full length of my erection buried within her, she slants forward to spread her palms on my chest. I've slouched down onto the silky sheets with my head elevated on a thick pillow. Feels like the perfect position for letting the sexiest woman in history fuck me.

I let out a groan of such depth, such intense relief, that it resonates in my chest. My hands find her erse, and I grip it firmly. "Please,mo leannan."

"I love it when you beg."

With her hands on my chest, and her body anchored to me by my palms clamped on her erse, she lifts her hips and slides back down onto myslat. I cry out, the sound hoarse and sharp. She rocks her hips, riding me at a leisurely pace while the friction of our bodies melding and separating creates a wet sucking sound and a slapping of flesh on flesh. The darkness makes it more intense, like electricity is arcing through the air and enlivening our bodies like never before. Her noises grow sharper and hungrier, and she rides me with mounting vigor, her breasts bouncing in my face, though all I can see is the shadowy outline of them. I thrust up every time she slams down onto my cock, our movements in sync. My pulse thunders in my ears and beats so fast I have trouble catching my breath.

"Aidan, oh God!"

I splutter something in Gaelic, not sure what, and flip us both over with her pinned beneath my body. I can smell our sweat and her cream while I piston into her even faster and shove my hands under her hips, hoisting them up so I can drive into her with frenzied force and speed. The squeaking of the bed mingles with my grunts and her strangled cries. I see the outline of her body as she clutches the rails of the headboard.

Calli tosses her head back, her spine arched, and screams. "Yes-oh-God-yes!"

The world seems to vanish, here in the dark, while I feel her come with convulsive force, her inner muscles squeezing me over and over while she flings her legs around my hips to ride out her climax. I punch into her again, so hard and deep that I feel like we've joined more than our bodies. She lets out a whimpering cry, her release pulsating on and on, her flesh squeezing me with every spasm. With one more thrust, I explode inside her, bellowing from the ferocity of my release.

Her breaths come so hard and fast she seems unable to speak.

What we just did robbed me of breath and the ability to speak too. I collapse beside her with a thud that rocks the bed. Then I nuzzle her ear, my breaths blustering over her skin and ruffling my hair, which I can tell because the strands tickle my skin. "Are ye mine?"

"I'm yours, always."

"Ahm yours too,mo chridhe. Yours forever." I hook an arm over her belly. "That was the best sex I've ever had. And I thought making love to you couldn't get any better."

"Same for me. I love having sex with you almost as much as I loveyou."

I chuckle, enfolding her in my arms here in the twilight of our room. We lie like that for several minutes, silent except for our breathing, our heartbeats slowing with every passing second. The rest of the world seems to have vanished as if aliens abducted everyone except me and Calli. All right, that's a strange thought. But somehow, the idea makes me even more relaxed because it means I have her all to myself forever.

A noise rouses us both from our shared trance. It sounds like bagpipes. Distant bagpipes.

"My mobile," I mumble. "Forget it."

"It might be important. Maybe Jamie needs you to rescue her from my ravenous brother."

Sighing, I heave my body off the bed, switch the lamp on, and root around on the floor until I find my jeans. I dig the mobile out of a pocket, answering with a groggy hello.

"It's Lachlan. We need to talk about Seona Ross."

I jerk ramrod straight, my eyes wide. The tone of his voice tells me it's not good news. "What happened?"

Though I listen to Lachlan's words, my brain can't interpret any of them. I need time to digest it all, but fate has not given me any leeway. I glance sideways at Calli, and I suddenly feel sick—in my stomach, in my heart, in my soul. What Lachlan is saying, it can't be true. This cannot happen. Not when I've just found the woman of my dreams, and she said she loves me too. Am I cursed? Or just a bloody moron for thinking this could never happen to me?

I respond to everything Lachlan says with grunts and the occasional half-growled "aye." But I'm not really understanding what it all means. Not until we say goodbye, and my mind has nothing to focus on except what my brother told me.

Disconnecting the call, I hurl the phone onto the table. It clacks on the wood surface.

"Everything okay?" Calli asks, pushing up onto her elbows.

I scrub my face with both hands, then drop onto the bed on my back. The mattress bounces, and the frame squeaks. All I can do is stare up at the ceiling. "Lachlan and Erica spoke to Seona."

"Okay." Calli rolls onto her side facing me, braced on one elbow. "Did it not go so well?"

This can't be happening. Not now. I've got my life on the right track and then this…

"She told them why she wants money," I say, my voice flat. "She needs it for the bairn."

"The what?"
