By the time we finish practicing, we've made our way up to the third floor and collapsed on our bed. My wife lies sprawled across my body, tracing lazy circles on my chest. "In a couple months, we'll have our first Christmas together."

"Can't think of a blessed thing I need or want." I kiss the top of her head. "You've given me the two best gifts—your love, and our baby."

"I think we should throw a big holiday party."

"Anything you want, m'eudail. This will be the first Christmas in years where I've had something to be grateful for."

She lifts her head to gaze at me, her eyes full of a love I know she sees in my gaze too. "Our life is amazing. Now, if I could just help Jamie and Gavin…"

"Matchmaking?” I groan. “What can I do to dissuade you from that course?”

"It might be hard…" She skims her hand down to my groin. "But I’m sure you’ll think of something."

I don't mind as much as I act like I do if my wife and sisters-in-law conspire to meddle in the lives of Jamie and Gavin. Maybe they will find the kind of joy Emery gives me every day. But if Gavin breaks my sister's heart…

"Oh no," Emery says, "there will be no plotting to assassinate Gavin."

"What? I didn't say a word."

"I can read your mind, baby."

"Then read this." I roll on top of her, drilling my gaze into hers, and think the filthiest thing I can imagine. "What am I thinking, mo leannan?"

"Can't quite hear it. Better show me."

I demonstrate my thoughts for her, and I mean to keep showing her every day how grateful I am to have her in my life. She is the only true wife I've ever had, and the only woman I'll ever need. One night in New Orleans changed my life, but the love of one determined woman saved my soul.
