I led my friends toward the Dominions at the foot of the stairs.
“Hey, Marie. Hi dudes,” I said, flashing them a grin and giving a sweep of my hand to include my friends. “We’re VIP.”
Yelena and Nat stood taller, as if good posture was needed to be validated as VIPs.
“Finally,” Marie snorted. “I’ve informed the Demigod Highnesses that Your Highness has arrived. If you were another five minutes late, they’d have sent a legion to fetch you. You asked for space, and they gave you some, but there’s only so much space they’re willing to give. Bear in mind, girl, they’re the demigods.”
I arched an eyebrow. “So they’re the demigods, but they still have humanity in them. I can give you an example.”
“Go up already, Marigold,” Marie sighed, rubbing her temple with her fingers. “Everyone knows the party is for you. So, don’t give me any more headaches and just let everything run smoothly for tonight.”
I blinked at her. “I haven’t done anything. How am I going to ruin the party? Plus, I like partying very much.”
“But you will, from what I know about you,” she said. “And for your information, all of your shifter and witch friends have already arrived. They’re all on the rooftop. The second, third, and fourth floors are off limits, of course, except to you or anyone you bring with you.”
Axel had the entire second floor as his residence in the Academy, Zak had third floor to himself, and the fourth floor belonged to Paxton. The ground floor was supposed to be Hector’s, but he chose to live in that cabin in the woods at the edge of campus.
“Bring a third party?” I smirked. “I’m not as kinky as you think.”
Marie shook her head. “One of these days you’re going to take things seriously.”
“I take things very seriously,” I said.
Marie gave my gown a once-over. “I bet this time you have your panties. I hope, anyway.”
“That’s my trade secret.” I huffed out a laugh and stepped onto the stairs.
Suddenly, foreboding went off like the loudest alarm in my head, and I stepped back toward the party on the first floor.
Something wasn’t right around here. Something called for my absolute attention and needed my thorough investigation.
A powerful presence, unlike anything I’d ever encountered, had entered the room.
I followed my magical senses and found the power source right across the crowded room.
Blood drained from my face.
Amid the partygoers who grinded their hips into each other on the dance floor, one particular hot couple stood out.
